Union Carbide introduced the first commercial polyarylsulfone resin, Udel, in 1966 and later introduced Radel polyarylsulfone. The business and patents rights were acquired by Amoco Corp. in 1986. Other polysulfone products have been marketed by BASF and ICl (Victrex PES) the latter aimounced in 1991 it was withdrawing from the business. 

The poloxamers manufactured by BASF (Cheadle, UK) are known as Pluronic PE block copolymers those manufactured by ICl (Cleveland, UK) as Synperonic PE nonionic surfactants. 

Kanegafuchi Chemical of Japan has introduced a chemical cross-linking process for producing PE foams by the bead technique similar to EPS. Their Eperan heads have been used io produce molded articles as cushioning materials, sound insulating panels, etc. Asahi-Dow and BASF have also been reported to have developed similar producls. 

Polypropylene (PP) foils with a thickness of 100 pm (goodfellow, U.K.) or 300 im (Ciba Geigy Switzerland) as well as polyethylene (PE, Lupolen, BASF) foil (100 pm) were ultrasonically cleaned in a diethyl ether bath for 15 min. The monomers used, i.e. acrylic acid, allyl alcohol and allylamine (all > 99%), were purchased from Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany and distilled before use. The monomers, ethylene and butadiene-1,3, supplied by Messer-Griesheim GmbH, Germany, were used as received.

Pyridazinone effects on phospholipids also provide information relative to phospholipid biosynthesis. The similarity in fatty acid composition of PC and PE in the absence of BASF 13 338 and their equivalent response to treatment suggest that the biosynthesis of phospholipids in wheat roots is not specific with respect to acyl chains. 

The second tributary is the PP thread from the early days of polypropylene at BASF, and the 1994 acquisition by BASF of the 300,000-ton PP business from ICI (who had already exited PE in 1982, when it swapped its PE business for the PVC business of BP), which acquisition doubled the size of the BASF PP business to 600,0001. BASF merged their PP business with that of Hoechst in a venture called Targor, in 1997.
