The Novasep team in 1994, successfully resolved 2 kg of racemic binaphthol per day on a Pirkle-Type 3,5-DNBPG CSP (Merck KGaA, Germany) using a Licosep 8-200 SMB system (Summary report on the BRITE-EURAM project BRE2-CT92-0337). [Pg.258]

In 1998, Novagen was acquired by CN Biosciences, Inc. (CNBI), which in 1999, became an affiliate of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, and now renamed as EMD. [Pg.273]

Christiaens et al. (2004) measured cyproterone acetate (CPA), a drug used to treat prostate carcinoma, in human plasma. A LiChrosphere RP-4 (25 x 2 mm inner diameter, 25 /an, Merck KGaA) cartridge was coupled with an OminiSpher C18 column (100 x 2 mm inner diameter, 3 /an) and 30 jiL plasma was injected directly. The lower limit of quantitation (LOQ) was 300 pg/mL. Recovery was 100%. [Pg.282]

Alnouti et al. (2005) used Symbiosis to measure propranolol and diclofenac in rat plasma. Twelve different SPE cartridges were screened. A C18 HD (2 x 10 mm inner diameter, Spark) was chosen because it provided the best recovery and peak shapes. When a Luna C18 (2.1 x 50 mm, 5 /an, Phenomenex) was used, the run time was 4 min it was 2 min when a monolithic Chromolith C18 (50 x 2.1 mm, Merck KgaA) column was used. [Pg.288]

Another approach is increasing throughput via a monolith analytical column. Vintiloiu et al. (2005) used a self-made RAM online SPE under turbulent flow conditions to measure rofecoxib, a cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor, in rat plasma. They constructed a cartridge (0.76 x 50 mm) packed with LiChrosphere 60 RP-18 ADS particles (40 to 63 /an, Merck KgaA). The analytical column was a Chromolith Speed ROD (RP-18, 50 x 4.6 mm, Merck KgaA). The injection volume was... [Pg.291]

R.T. expresses his sincere thanks to his co-workers and colleagues, without whose contributions this article could not have been written their names are cited in the references. In addition, financial support of our work by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and the Fonds der Chemischen Industrie and support with chemicals by the Bayer AG (Leverkusen and Wuppertal-Elberfeld) and the Merck KGaA (Darmstadt) are gratefully acknowledged. [Pg.271]

Preparative MPLC. Solid phase Lichroprep RP18 40-60 pm (Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany), first gradient 5 5 % acetonitrile against 1 mM ammonium formate (six column volumes), second gradient 5-50 % acetonitrile with 1 mM formic acid as the aqueous phase. [Pg.366]

At Merck KGaA in Darmstadt (Germany), in-line UV spectroscopy has been used for monitoring a distillation setup for solvent purification." A transmission probe was implemented at the top of the column. Solarization-resistant UV fibers guided the light to a diode array spectrometer. From the spectra, a quality parameter was extracted and fed to the process control system (PCS). As an example, the quality parameter would exhibit a transient behavior upon column startup. Below a defined threshold value of the parameter, the PCS would assume sufficient product quality and switch the exit stream from waste to product collection. The operation of the spectrometer does not take place in a direct manner, but rather via the PCS. [Pg.96]

The basic studies dealing with the preparation of continuous porous silica materials date back to 1991 [76-78]. Two years later, Nakanishi and Saga applied for a patent describing the fabrication of monolithic silica rods for chromatographic application [79-81], whereas a second protocol for the preparation of continuous silica rods was independently filed by Merck KGaA in Germany [82]. [Pg.13]

Depending on the postpolymerization derivatization procedure, silica-based monolithic columns have been employed for NPC [95] (see also Merck KGaA Darmstadt, Germany), RPC [189-193,196,197,200] (see also Merck KGaA Darmstadt, Germany), lEX [194], and HILIC [84,194,198] application. Additionally, their use as efficient bioreactors has recently been reported [86,195]. [Pg.31]
