Performance value

This technique reduces testing times significantly and provides reUable results for >20 years material. The values plotted in Figure 2 (25) are an illustration of the viabiUty of this technique as a means to provide reaUstic long-term thermal performance values (21). [Pg.334]

Table 27.13 lists the principal types of appliance in each group, together with descriptive notes. Typical emission ranges are quoted for each type over its normal span of working temperatures. These are intended as a guide only and manufacturers catalogues should be consulted for detailed performance values. [Pg.412]

To declare a decision policy, Xp,p, as either unacceptable, acceptable or leading to a significant improvement, each decision unit compares its current levels of performance with the ones that are expected within X p. The current levels of performance for unit k are provided by the (y lXcurrent) d estimates obtained from a sample of data records, just as in the case of (y,(. Xj3p) and crfy lXop). A comparison of these reference performance values for Xcu em " ilh the ones achieved by Xpp is made by each decision unit. As a result of this comparison, a final evaluation of Xp,p by decision unit k leads to one of the three possible outcomes ... [Pg.144]

It is important to realize that though the formulas for RME explicitly do not depend on reaction scale, x, since this variable cancels out in the computation, RME does in fact implicitly depend on reaction scale because reaction yields are scale dependent and RME in turn depends on reaction yield. Reaction yields are parameters whose magnitude cannot be predicted theoretically but must be verified experimentally. It does not always follow that a reported yield for a given reaction at a given scale will be the same at another scale. This requires experimental verification. Moreover, the direction of change as the scale is changed is also not predictable. AH of this means that when the same synthesis plan is run at a different scale, different reaction yields will be determined and hence different material efficiency performance values of RME, Em and mass of waste will be obtained. However, the... [Pg.109]

Most reed switch suppliers can perform value-added cutting and shaping of the leads in a stress-free environment, using proper tools and equipment This is often the most economical approach for users, although it may not seem so at the time. [Pg.129]

The spent fuel is completely combusted in the anode exhaust converter. This flue gas mixture is fed directly to the fuel cell cathode. The cathode exhaust has significant usable heat, which is utilized in the fuel cleanup and in steam generation. The residual heat can be utilized to heat air, water, or steam for cogeneration applications. Design parameters for the IR-MCFC are presented in Table 9-9. Overall performance values are presented in Table 9-10. [Pg.241]

Siemens Westinghouse provided TSOFC performance values for the HP and LP conditions, which Parsons incorporated into the systems analysis. [Pg.251]

The TSS has less potential for maximum emission control as the WGS and electrostatic precipitator (ESP). While all three technologies were designed to meet NSPS/ MACT, only the WGS and ESP can meet more stringent requirements. TSS performance can typically achieve d50 grade efficiency down to 2 microns. Most reported performance values result in emissions of 0.4-0.8 Ib/Mlb coke. Future PM2 5 regulations are a concern for TSS applications. By definition, TSS units cannot effectively remove small particles due to the cyclonic operation. [Pg.359]

Additional low-temperature fuel filterability information is often required to confirm whether fuel will pass through fuel filters in cold environments. Two tests are commonly used to determine this performance value, ASTM D-4539 and IP 309. The method ASTM D-4539 is termed the Low-Temperature How Test (LIFT) and is used to determine the low-temperature filterability of diesel fuel. [Pg.189]

The industry is extremely competitive, with the manufacturers producing similar products and competing mostly on price. Many incremental improvements have been made to membrane and module performance over the past 20 years, resulting in steadily decreasing water desalination costs in inflation-adjusted dollars. Some performance values taken from a paper by Furukawa are shown in Table 5.5. Since 1980, just after the introduction of the first interfacial composite membranes, the cost of spiral-wound membrane modules on a per square meter basis has decreased seven-fold. At the same time the water flux has doubled, and the salt permeability has decreased seven-fold. Taking these improvements into account, today s membranes are almost 100 times better than those of the 1980s. This type of incremental improvement is likely to continue for some time. [Pg.231]

The full list of potential applications and addressable market segments was assessed against a) the relative strength of the new product s price and performance value proposition compared to existing offerings b) the size and attractiveness of the addressable market, and c) the ease with which the value could be captured, i.e., the time and effort it would take to develop the product applications... [Pg.386]

Figure 12.9 shows the output and transfer characteristics of a state-of-the-art, polymer FET fabricated using the Plastic Logic direct-write manufacturing process (L = 10 pm). No encapsulation of the TFT is present other than what is naturally provided by the presence of the PET substrate on the bottom and an inkjet printed silver gate electrode on the top. The device exhibits a field-effect mobility of 0.04 cm2 V 1 s 1 and ON-OFF current ratio of 5 x 10s. The threshold potential is Vt = 5-6 V. These basic TFT performance values can be achieved consistently in a manufacturing environment, and are sufficient to drive a 100 dpi electronic paper display with A5 size. [Pg.316]

Performance values determination for frozen flow are much simpler. Since the flow is frozen the composition at the exhaust is the same as that in the chamber and therefore known. For the given exhaust pressure and composition, the entropy equation (Eq., n. C. 4.) is solved to determine the exhaust temperature. Since one does not have to make a product composition determination, the entropy equation is solved quite easily for the temperature and thus the total enthalpy at the exhaust determined just as readily. The exhaust temperature for the frozen composition case is always less than the exhaust temperature for equilibrium flow. [Pg.67]

In France the lead block performance value is given by the coefficient d utilisation pratique (c. u. p.) if mx is the mass of the tested explosive, which gives exactly the same excavation as 15 g of picric acid, the ratio... [Pg.256]

The sensitivity and performance values (Tab. 9.10) revealed that ADNQ may be a high-performing but still relatively insensitive high explosive, while APX needs to be classified as a primary explosive due to its high impact sensitivity. [Pg.226]

The computed and predicted performance values not only exceed the first generation of high-nitrogen compounds (e.g. HZT) but, in case of TKX-50, also the performance values of RDX and HMX (Fig. 9.33). [Pg.231]

Previously, the first reviews on alloy electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction in phosphoric acid fuel-cells44"46 concentrated on those patents that had been issued in the United States, since that was where most of the early work had been done. Subsequendy, similar alloy work has been done in Japan, and that work is reflected in the Japanese patent literature shown in Table 3, whence corresponding alloy-combination atom ratios and the air/oxygen performance values are given in Table 3a. [Pg.396]

The computer generated formulas were prepared and evaluated as a group. Numerical values were assigned for each property and totaled to give a "Performance" value. The rating scheme is set up so that the higher number reflects the better performance. [Pg.95]

Numeric and alphanumeric characters are used to represent the value of the dependent variable "Performance". Note in Figure 3 that "Performance" values of 15, 16 and 17 are plotted out on the contour map. These are projected values which go beyond the limit of the rating scale that was set up. These kinds of occurrences again point to the fact that computers are tools and their output should be subject to Interpretation. As one becomes more adept at using these programs, these aberrations can sometimes be eliminated by using the proper restrictions allowed for in the program. [Pg.96]

The predicted values are later compared against actual measured performance values collected during prototyping, piloting, and design implementation. [Pg.233]

EXHIBIT 41.1 This is a sample, stylized output of the SigmaFlow Simulator Process Analyzer. In addition to performing discrete event simulations, this product also performs value stream mapping, improvement score-carding, and other analytics. [Pg.253]

We have presented a complete analysis of the Cornell mm-wave spectrometer using quasioptical techniques. We also have developed a quasioptical formalism with sufficient flexibility to predict the performance of a novel reflection mode spectrometer with variable input coupling and transmit-receive duplexing based on polarization coding and we present a practical realization of these design concepts in Earle et al. (1996b). At every stage we have chosen parameters that correspond to practical performance values and measured response. [Pg.316]

All reports agree that acceptance of catalytic membrane reactors on a commercial scale is at least 10 years away. Here, more experimental performance data for particular processes and process conditions are required to stimulate further development. This needs the commercial availability of a larger assortment of microporous as well as dense membranes with a variety of combinations of good separation factors and good performance values. [Pg.11]

As yet, more work is also required to gain insight in the role of the ceramic microstructure in the performance values of membranes, and to evaluate different processing routes for the fabrication of perovskite thin films. [Pg.511]
