Perfluorinated carbonyl

Perfluorinated carbonyl compounds, especially hexafluoroacetone, are highly electron-deficient species and react vigorously with a wide variety of HX nucleophiles The reaction of these ketones and of most polyfluonnated imines toward nucleophiles can be generahzed by the scheme shown m equation 1... [Pg.840]

The conversion of a carbonyl to a thiocarbonyl group, or thionation , is a common procedure for the synthesis of thioketones. Several methods that use P4Sio,49 51 Lawesson s reagent (L.R.),2 52 57 H2S,58 59 NaHS,60 or hex-amethyldisilathiane (HMDST)61,62 are described. L.R. and P4S10 have been used to sulfurate partially and entirely perfluorinated carbonyl compounds,63 which are then trapped as anthracene adducts in a one-pot reaction. H2S has... [Pg.110]

Ionic fully fluorinated alkoxides of the heavier alkali metals may be prepared by the reaction between the anhydrous metal fluoride and various perfluorinated carbonyl compounds in donor solvents (equations 40 and 41).137... [Pg.343]

One of the uses of these products is the preparation of perfluorinated carbonyl compounds. [Pg.9]

Also 2-(trifluoro-methyl)-4-methylquinoline 88 has been obtained through intermediacy of the corresponding imine derived from the reaction of ortto-vinylaniUne 86 with perfluorinated carbonyl compounds taken in the forms of semiacetals or aldehyde hydrates (Scheme 35) [56],... [Pg.75]

Uses. Besides polymerizing TFE to various types of high PTEE homopolymer, TEE is copolymerized with hexafluoropropylene (29), ethylene (30), perfluorinated ether (31), isobutylene (32), propylene (33), and in some cases it is used as a termonomer (34). It is used to prepare low molecular weight polyfluorocarbons (35) and carbonyl fluoride (36), as well as to form PTEE m situ on metal surfaces (37). Hexafluoropropylene [116-15-4] (38,39), perfluorinated ethers, and other oligomers are prepared from TEE. [Pg.349]

Numerous fluorinated and perfluorinated alkyl hypochlorites have been synthesized and characterized, eg, CF OCl [22082-78-6] C2F OCl [22675-67-8] /-C F OCl [22675-68-9] and /-C F OCl [22082-78-6]. These nonmetal oxychlorine compounds are much more thermally stable than the corresponding parent compounds and can be prepared by reaction of GIF with the appropriate carbonyl compound or alcohol. [Pg.475]

Polyfluoroalkyl- andperfluoroalkyl-substituted CO and CN multiple bonds as dipolarophiles. Dmzo alkanes are well known to react with carbonyl compounds, usually under very mild conditions, to give oxiranes and ketones The reaction has been interpreted as a nucleophilic attack of the diazo alkane on the carbonyl group to yield diazonium betaines or 1,2,3 oxadiazol 2 ines as reaction intermediates, which generally are too unstable to be isolated Aromatic diazo compounds react readily with partially fluorinated and perfluorinated ketones to give l,3,4-oxadiazol-3-ines m high yield At 25 °C and above, the aryloxa-diazolines lose nitrogen to give epoxides [111]... [Pg.860]

The choice of the desired CM-partner directly influences the choice of the catalyst [147], Comparing the GII and the HII catalysts shows that the latter has access to a much broader spectrum of cross-partners [148], It is possible to use electron deficient cross-partners like acroleine, perfluorinated olefins, acrylonitrile, or other o / -unsaturated carbonyls, whereas GII leads to no reaction or very low conversions due to side-reactions in these cases. [Pg.93]

A set of aryl halides was reacted with carbonyl hydrazides and molybdenum hexacar-bonyl [Mo(CO)6] as a source of carbon monoxide, employing fluorous triphenylphos-phine (F-TPP) as ligand and the perfluorocarbon liquid FC-84 as a perfluorinated solvent (Scheme 7.87 see also Scheme 6.46c). [Pg.355]

Another series of experiments has been performed using simple ketones substituted by fluoroalkyl groups. In this way it is clearly shown that the presence of a perfluorine group adjacent to the carbonyl to be hydrogenated is essential in order to provide both excellent activities and enantioselectivities (Table 33.9). [Pg.1188]

By treating Nafion (NR-50), a perfluorinated acidic ion exchanger based on sulfonic acid groups, with scandium(III) chloride hexahydrate Kobayashi et al. generated a solid scandium-derived catalyst (29) (Nafion-Sc) that proved to be effective in al-lylation reactions of carbonyl compounds with tetraallyltin (Scheme 4.15). Since the catalyst is stable in both organic solvents and water, even unprotected carbohydrates could be transformed directly in aqueous solvents. The resulting homo-allylic alcohols were separated by simple filtration [97]. [Pg.219]

Tris[(2-perfluorohexyl)ethyl]tin hydride has three perfluorinated segments with ethylene spacers and it partitions primarily (> 98%) into the fluorous phase in a liquid-liquid extraction. This feature not only facilitates the purification of the product from the tin residue but also recovers toxic tin residue for further reuse. Stoichiometric reductive radical reactions with the fluorous tin hydride 3 have been previously reported and a catalytic procedure is also well established. The reduction of adamantyl bromide in BTF (benzotrifluoride) " using 1.2 equiv of the fluorous tin hydride and a catalytic amount of azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) was complete in 3 hr (Scheme 1). After the simple liquid-liquid extraction, adamantane was obtained in 90% yield in the organic layer and the fluorous tin bromide was separated from the fluorous phase. The recovered fluorous tin bromide was reduced and reused to give the same results. Phenylselenides, tertiary nitro compounds, and xanthates were also successfully reduced by the fluorous fin hydride. Standard radical additions and cyclizations can also be conducted as shown by the examples in Scheme 1. Hydrostannation reactions are also possible, and these are useful in the techniques of fluorous phase switching. Carbonylations are also possible. Rate constants for the reaction of the fluorous tin hydride with primary radicals and acyl radicals have been measured it is marginally more reactive than tributlytin hydrides. ... [Pg.4]

Type IV (spectators to CM) 1,1-Disubstituted olefms " 1,1-Disubstituted olefms, disub. o ,/ -unsaturated carbonyls, 4° allylic carbon-containing olefins, perfluorinated alkane olefins, 3° allylamines (protected)" Vinyl nitro olefins, protected trisubstituted allyl alcohols, a,/ -olefin of 2-subst. 1.3- butadienes, a,/ -olefm of electronically deactivated 1.3- butadienes ... [Pg.196]

The double bonds in certain heterocyclic compounds, such as furans, Af-acylpyrroles and A-acylindoles are also susceptible to photoaddition of carbonyl compounds to form oxetanes (equation 106) (77JHC1777). A wide range of carbonyl compounds can be used, including quinones, a-diketones, acyl cyanides, perfluorinated aldehydes and ketones and esters. A remarkable case of asymmetric induction in oxetane formation has been reported from optically active menthyl phenylglyoxylate and 2,3-dimethyl-2-butene the oxetane product obtained after hydrolysis of the ester group had an optical purity of 53% (79AG(E)868). [Pg.397]

Perfluorinated tertiary amides and cyclic imides react cleanly with sulfur tetrafluoride/ hydrogen fluoride at elevated temperatures by replacing the carbonyl oxygen atom by fluorines to give good yields of tertiary perfluoroamines, e.g. formation of 13 and 14.178... [Pg.377]

Partially and perfluorinated thioketones and thioaldehyde were stabilized as anthracene adducts (70). The adducts (70) were prepared in moderate yield from the corresponding carbonyl compounds with P4S10 or Lawesson s reagent in the presence of anthracene under toluene reflux. The generated thiocarbonyl compounds are not accessible in bulk due to their tendency towards polymerization. By thermolysis of the anthracene adducts (70) in the presence of C,N-bis(triisopropylsilyl)nitrilimine (NI), 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives (71) were obtained. Also, 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition with bis(trimethylstannyl)diazomethane (BTSD) to give consecutive products (72) from a 1,2-metallotropic migration of primary adducts was discussed. [95LA95]... [Pg.173]

The largest proportion of TFE is used for the polymerization into a variety of PITH homopolymers. It is also used as comonomer in the copolymerization with hexaflu-oropropylene, ethylene, perfluorinated ether, and other monomers and also as a comonomer in a variety of terpolymers. Other uses of TFE are to prepare low-molecular-weight polyfluorocarbons, carbonyl fluoride oils, as well as to form PTFE in situ on metal surfaces,13 and in the synthesis of hexafluoropropylene, perfluorinated ethers, and other oligomers.14... [Pg.18]

The tetrafluoromethane ion has also been found to decay before electronic randomisation has occurred [129, 769] (see Sect. 5.3 and 5.9 for other perfluorinated molecules). The breakdown diagrams for CF3X molecules (X = a halogen atom other than F) have been reported [690]. Translational energy release distributions have also been measured for these molecules and shown to be in agreement with the predictions of statistical theory (phase space theory) [691]. Carbonyl chloride and fluoride have been studied [451] (see Sect. 8). [Pg.97]
