People Express

Over and over I heard people express the same feelings as Jackj a long-term sufferer of manic depression, who recounted his initial reaction to drugs ... 

My unpublished Book of Wishes was meant to keep our fingers on the pulse on the world, to eavesdrop into the usually hidden side of human desire as people express in their own words their inner fears and hopes. I ve found the experience of receiving wishes from around the world to be enriching, warming, and enlightening, and I hope you will share in some of the pleasure when reading the wishes. 

Mandatory school uniforms are a bad decision for our district. If students are required to wear a uniform, it will greatly inhibit their ability to express themselves. This is a problem because dress is one of the major ways that young people express themselves. A school uniform policy also directly violates the freedom of expression that all Americans are supposed to enjoy. Determining the oil content of safflower seed in the laboratory by solvent extraction is also more difficult than for other oilseeds because of the vast difference in texture of the hull compared to the kernel within. The hull must be cracked or all of the oil will not be extracted. But in cracking the seed, the kernel tends to mash as well and small amounts of oil can be lost in the process, a small amount is important when the sample contains only 5g of seed. Since many people expressed dissatisfaction in safflower oil content analyses, PVO s control laboratory worked for a long time to develop a better method than the standard AOCS procedure (136). This method of analysis is now part of the NIOP rules for safflower (137). 

Solutions that are technically and economically feasible must be acceptable to society. The preference of the people, expressed through the political process, is shaped by their hopes and fears as well as by their choices between economic efficiency and their quality of life. What environmental impact is acceptable to the public What are the waste streams, and are there recoverable materials in them What level of independence from imports strikes the people as the best balance between national security and consumer price increases The solution path for solving a technical problem is illustrated in Figure 1.2. 

The last case considered above illustrates altruism at the household level. The head(s) of the household care about the welfare of the other household members. One can also visualise cases in which people express...

Donald Burr, the former CEO of People Express Airlines, who was deeply interested in creating a humane organization and was guided by a fundamental belief in people, summarizes his view The people dimension is the value added to the commodity. Many investors still don t fully appreciate this point (Conger and Kanungo 1998, p. 144).

The main financial pressures on the carriers were the industry recession... and the bloody fare wars, not with the upstart carriers but with other trunk airlines. 

When people express concerns about safety in the workplace, it is often caused by uncertainty about the nature of the risk. This ignorance is often expressed by task avoidance or, in extreme cases, complete refusal to perform certain work. The mechanism to remove uncertainty begins with the willingness of management to address the issues that concern workers with a proactive rather than reactive approach.

That was almost the end of CARNAC Very few people expressed any interest. Not all types of harm are recoverable. For many years, plaintiffs were unable to recover purely economic losses such as increased business expenses or lost revenue. However, there is a trend to allow such claims with the major case involving a railroad. In the case of People Express Airlines, Inc, v. Consolidated Rail Corp. (100 N.J, 246, 495 A. 2d 107 (1985)), the court ruled that the airline was able to recover damages caused by an interruption of its business caused by the release of hazardous chemicals from a Conrail tank car. The court allowed the claim because it was felt that Conrail should have foreseen the harm that a chemical spill would have on businesses adjacent to the railroad. Despite the judgement in the above case, railroad lawyers have expressed the opinion that the majority of legal sentiment is still unfavorable to the recovery of economic losses.
