Passive cutaneous anaphylaxis reaction

Several investigations have reported the ability of some natural quinones to be therapeutically useful in the treatment of asthma. The natural anthraquinone chrysophanol-8-O-P-D-glucopyranoside has potent inhibitory activity on hyaluronidase, a enzyme released from mast cells and passive cutaneous anaphylaxis reactions [311], Cheng et al. [312] described the inhibitory effect of 9,10-anthraquinone 2-carboxylic acid on immunoglobulin E-mediated passive cutaneous anaphylaxis reaction. Furthermore, these compounds are promising for treating allergic diseases with chronic and severe pruritus. Lawsone, Fig. (12), 2-hydroxy-3-(2-hydroxyethyl)-l, 4-naphthoquinone and 2,2 -methylenebis(3-hydroxy )-l,4-naphthoquinone... [Pg.341]

Rhodiocyanoside A (17), isolated from Rhodiola quadrifida, was found to inhibit the histamine release by 10" to lO" in a concentration-dependent manner. It also significantly inhibited the PCA (passive cutaneous anaphylaxis) reaction, suggesting the anti-allergic activity of the plant [25],... [Pg.343]

Reaction of 2-aminoquinoline derivatives with BrCH2C0C02Et gave imidazoquinoline-2-carboxylate 473 which upon hydrolysis with sodium hydroxide gave the corresponding acid which had been tested against the passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (78GEP2802493, 78BEP858605) (Scheme 79). [Pg.133]

Although human anaphylaxis is a systemic reaction, the mouse model of passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PGA) has been used extensively to enhance our understanding of mechanisms which also may contribute to systemic anaphylaxis. Unlike systemic anaphylaxis in the mouse, PGA appears to be entirely dependent on mast cells [4,6]. While IgE appears to be the primary antibody isotype that mediates PCA reactions in actively immunized mice, activation of FcyRIII by a fraction of IgGl antibodies (called anaphylactic IgGl) can also mediate PCA reactions in mice [4]. [Pg.49]

The synthetic P-o-glucopyranoside 30 was converted to the cyanoglucoside rho-diocyanoside A (38a), which was isolated from the underground part of Rhodiola quadrifida (Pall.) Fisch. et Mey. (Crassulaceae) and found to show antiallergic activity in a passive cutaneous anaphylaxis test in rat. Acetylation of 30 gave an acetate (98% yield) which was subjected to ozonolysis to afford the aldehyde 39. The Horner-Emmons reaction of 39 using diethyl (l-cyanoethyl)phosphonate furnished (Z)-40a (32% yield from 30) and ( )-40b (10% yield from 30). The physical... [Pg.259]

There are four subclasses of IgG IgGi, 70% IgGj, 16% IgG., 10%, and IgG, 4%. IgGi is capable of inhibiting IgE-mediated passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PGA) reaction in baboons when injected in relatively high concentrations. [Pg.156]

Rats dosed twice with inhibiting doses of either DSCG or lodoxamide tromethamine show tachyphylaxis to an inhibition of the subsequent passive cutaneous anaphylaxis assay (10.11,13 16,17). Atropine (25 mg/kg) or QNB (0.01 mg/kg) given ip 20 min prior to the first iv dose of DSCG or lodoxamide, partially blocked this multiple dose tachyphylaxis (13,16,17,27). Atropine or QNB by themselves at these concentrations had no inhibitory effect on the PCA reaction, but markedlv reduced (or almost totally eliminated) the tachyphylaxis (Fig. 3,4) to DSCG and to a lesser... [Pg.82]

The sensitizing capacity of the serum from allergic subjects has been known since the classical transfer experiments of Prausnitz-Ktlstner. Passive cutaneous anaphylaxis in the rat is essentially identical to the reaction of Prausnitz-KUstner. A skin area of normal rats is sensitized to an allergen by the local injection of serum containing specific IgE-antibodies and appropriate... [Pg.194]

Guinea pigs were immunized repeatedly with rifampicin in complete Freund s adjuvant and skin reactions after challenge were studied (Dukor et al. 1973). There was evidence of allergic reactions of the immediate as well as of the delayed type. However, antibodies were not measured by passive cutaneous anaphylaxis or any other immunologic method. Therefore, the skin reactions observed 4 h after challenge could well have masked an incipient type of delayed hypersensitivity reaction (Dewdney 1977). Hence, these experiments do not establish unequivocally the im-munogenicity of rifampicin. [Pg.505]

Chang (1965) reported a case of cold urticaria and photosensitisation to griseofulvin, in which an attempt was made to demonstrate the presence of griseo-fulvin-specific antibodies. Positive reactions were obtained using rabbit passive cutaneous anaphylaxis in which a latent period of 4 h was allowed to elapse be-... [Pg.561]

Effect of Oxyphenbutazone on Immunologic Reactions. 2. Passive Cutaneous Anaphylaxis (PCA) Treated with Oxyphenbutazone, Cortisone and Cyclophosphamide). [Pg.8]

Allergic reactions of the skin are weaker after previous applications of histamine-liberating agents and also of passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA). [Pg.112]

Anaphylaxis - The acute and rapid reaction of an animal having an immediate type of allergy to an antigenic challenge. The reaction can be active if the animal was Itself the producer of the responsible antibodies or passive if the antibodies had been administered preformed. Anaphylaxis can furthermore be systemic or local, an example of the latter being passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PGA). [Pg.238]
