The thin and sheet-like design of the micro mixer makes an interconnect with a fluidic environment difficult Also the small external dimensions of the micro mixer (see Table 4.3) cause some problems, e.g. the access ports are smaller than most off-the shelf parts, handling of the chip itself is difficult and tedious, the distances between inlet and outlet holes are very small, the chip is made from a brittle material, and consequently, high pressures cannot be applied by clamping [70],... [Pg.526]

In use are retractable tiebars. Different designs are used to unlock a tie bar. Principle reason is to permit installing molds that would occupy the complete platen minus the tie rod areas. Thus the mold literally has holes. Very popular are tiebarless systems which are also used. Without the tiebars, larger molds can reduce IMM cost, mount larger molds in a smaller IMM, permit quicker to easier mold mounting, no holes in molds, simpler part handling automation, etc. [Pg.199]

The regenerator for a typical 10,000-barrel/day unit has an overall height of 120 ft. and an internal cross-sectional area of about 100 sq. ft. The shells are constructed of carbon steel and are protected by a 6-in. lining of insulation with a refractory surface adjacent to the flowing catalyst. All parts handling flue gas and air inside the regenerator are constructed of oxidation-resistant alloy steel. [Pg.297]

The first consideration in defect analysis is whether the part has been handled after removal from service. Handling can alter the appearance or contaminate it to the point that either failure analysis could not be conducted or the root cause could not be determined. Surface analysis techniques are sensitive to handling and cannot distinguish between the changes caused by the failure and contamination. The best practice is to minimize handling the part and keep track of the history of the part. There are certain steps that frequently have to be taken such as decontamination of parts that have been in contact with corrosive, toxic, or flammable chemicals. A log should be considered to keep track of what has been done to the part, which may help explain any unforeseen consequences of part handling. [Pg.319]

An automated part-handling and special tool-cooling and lubricating system are installed to keep the forming temperatures and the tribologic conditions exactly according to the requirements for nns processes. [Pg.583]
