Outserts

Outserts are large machined metal plates with holes and other anchorages onto which a plastic is locally overmoulded to ensure specific functions. The metal plate brings high rigidity and the plastic ensures insulation, frictional properties, damping... This technique cuts the assembly costs of numerous small plastic parts. [Pg.758]

The outsert. This is an American idea in which the leaflet is folded down to the height of the container and is held against the side of the container by either a stretch or shrink band or has its flying leaf sealed together and stuck with a heat-fix adhesive or is cellotaped to the container. None of these fixings is allowed to obscure the prime label. [Pg.677]

If outserts become scratched or damaged they are easily changed. In addition, all outsert types help... [Pg.575]

The M17 chemical and biological protective mask assembly includes the mask, the M15A1 carrier, two lens outserts, and the Ml waterproofing bag. It is made of molded rubber with filter elements in each cheek, plastic eye lenses, and a voice emitter outlet valve in the front. The A1 and A2 models include the capability to drink water while masked. The mask protects the wearer s face, eyes, and respiratory tract against field concentrations of CB agents. The M40 Protective Mask is replacing the M17 Mask. See FM 3-5 for filter exchange rates. [Pg.257]

The mask is compatible with shoulder-fired weapons, night-vision devices, and sighting devices. A variety of accessory items is available, including the Ml waterproof bag, the M4 winterization kit, the M6A2 hood, the M15A1 carrier, and optical inserts and outserts. This series of mask is currently being replaced by the M40 protective mask.14,15 Mask, Chemical-Biological Field, M40... [Pg.366]

Filtration is provided by one C2A1 canister mounted on either side of the facepiece. The primary voicemitter is located over the mouth area with a secondary voicemitter in the cheek area to utilize telephone handsets. The mask incorporates a drinking tube, which connects to the Ml canteen cap. The mask has a six-point, adjustable head harness suspension made of elastic, which comes together in the center head back into a rectangular patch of woven material. The mask comes in three sizes small, medium, and large. Accessories include a carrier bag, a butyl-coated nylon cloth hood, outserts to protect the lens in storage, and a waterproof bag. [Pg.368]

The mask has an inhalation air-distribution assembly for regulating the flow of air to the mouth and nose, eyelenses, and hood assembly. The M43 mask has a drink capability which couples with the canteen cap. The mask is produced in four sizes from small to extra-large. Accessories include a mask carrier, vision correction outserts, winterization kit, nuclear hood, facepiece carrier, eyelens cushions, and a blower and harness assembly. [Pg.369]

In the outsert technology, functional components out of thermoplastic polymers are injected into pre-punched holes of a metal blank. Therefore, the blank is inserted and fixed between the two halves of the injection mold. Sealing elements made from highly heat-resistant plastics (Figure 1.76) for example PEEK can help to compensate for the considerable manufacturing tolerances of metal parts [1, 3,15, and 32). [Pg.74]

Outsert technology (metal-plastic composites) offers good growth potential for engineering polymers in automotive applications. [Pg.5]

Future demand for POM will, however, be sustained by product and applications development. In automotive markets, POM is expected to make further inroads in under-the-bonnet, electrical systems and interior applications. The use of POM for car interior applications for example, should be boosted by the development of odour-free products, which overcome the problem of odour emissions previously associated with use of polyacetal inside the car. Other interesting product developments expected to encourage greater use of POM in the car include the use of so-called outsert technology (metal-plastic composites), and the combination of POM with injection moulded soft components, including NBR rubber and polyester elastomers. [Pg.44]

The development of outsert technology (metal-plastic composites) offers good growth potential for POM in automotive applications. Another forward-looking application being developed is the eombination of POM with injection moulded soft eomponents, including NBR rubber and polyester elastomers. [Pg.70]

In the eleetric appliances industry POM is used to make casings, gearwheels, clutches, bearings, carriers and gears. In electronics, POM is used for telephone keypads, coil bobbins, switches, spring elements, armature supports, videocassettes, outsert boards for VCR, CD players and camcorders. [Pg.96]
