Molding Powders. Urea-formaldehyde resins are compounded with alpha-cellulose cotton fiber reinforcement to produce molding powders (4 percent) for compression, transfer, and injection molding. Typical molding conditions are 127 to 182°C and 2000 to 8000 psi. They are superior to phenolics in white color, electrical resistance, and low cost, but are limited by moisture sensitivity (Table 3.13). They are used primarily in electrical wiring devices such as wall outlets, receptacles, electric blanket controls, circuit breakers, and knob handles. Smaller amounts are used in bottle caps, housewares, buttons, and sanitary ware. [Pg.140]

The control panel contains a vacuum gauge, an infinite range switch to control the heater temperature and an indicator light that shines when the heater is on. The switch on the right side of the panel activates an outlet receptacle mounted on the right front leg of the machine. If you were to use an electric vacuum pump it would plug into this outlet. The size of outlet piping required for a safety disc is not necessarily the same as the disc receptacle size. Discs frequently are sized on the basis of pressure requirements rather than capacity requirements. In such instances it is possible for the outlet piping to be smaller than the pipe size of the disc receptacle. If an arrangement of this type is desirable, the pipe diameter must be calculated on the basis of the relief capacity requirements and the maximum allowable upstream pressure. At construction sites, the most common electrical hazard is the grovmd fault electrical shock. The OSHA electrical rules reqrure employers to provide either (1) grormd fardt circuit interrupters (GFCIs) for receptacle outlets, or (2) an assraed equipment grormd-ing conductor program. Either method can eliminate grormd fault electric shock hazards. [Pg.189]
