Other regulated substance, liquid

Other regulated substances. A liquid or solid which is an anesthetic, is noxious, or has other similar properties which could cause extreme annoyance or discomfort to humans. [Pg.252]

Flavouring liquids Other regulated substance, aromatic extract or flavouring Terpene hydrocarbons, n.o.s., 3.3 Terpenes, n.o.s. [Pg.86]

Liquid, see Terminology, Liquid, p.241 Oil, see Terminology, Oil, p.244 Other regulated substance, see Miscellaneous Dangerous Goods (including Class 9), p.158... [Pg.87]

Chemical and thermal burns. The causes of chemical bums include the effect of concentrated acids, alkali, liquid ammonia, chlorosilanes and other aggressive substances. Thermal bums are caused with boiling solutions, hot water, vapour, inflamed gases, incandescent contact mass. Preventive and protective measures mostly include strict observance of all the established technological regulations and equipment maintenance order. [Pg.356]

Next to the legislation on OELs and BATs, the requirements of the Ordinance on Hazardous Substances apply as well as various other regulations at national level dealing with flammable liquids, water pollution, air pollution, major hazards, storage and transport, protective equipment and ventilation. [Pg.206]

DISPOSAL AND STORAGE METHODS absorb liquid in sand or inert absorbent, and place in a secured, sanitary landfill dispose of container and unused contents in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations store in a cool, dry area use only with adequate ventilation keep in tightly closed containers store below boiling point isolate from metals, alloys, and other incompatible substances protect against physical damage. [Pg.969]

CONFINED SPACE A spacc which is substantially, although not always entirely, enclosed and where there is a reasonably foreseeable risk of serious injury from hazardous substances or conditions within the space or nearby. The risks may include flammable substances oxygen deficiency or enrichment toxic gases, fume or vapour ingress or presence of liquids free-flowing solids presence of excessive heat. For the purpose of the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 a confined space means any place, including any chamber, tank, vat, silo, pit, trench, pipe, sewer, flue, well or other similar space in which, by virtue of its enclosed nature, there arises a reasonably foreseeable specified risk. [Pg.12]

Equation 2.40 shows that the solvent power (as measured by 6) of an SF is governed by two factors (25). First, it is regulated by the liquid value 8Viq (see Table 2.1), reflecting the polarity and other chemical properties of molecules of the parent liquid. Highly polar substances like ammonia would thus yield high 8s. By contrast, small relatively nonpolarizable species like helium have negligible solvent effects under any circumstances. [Pg.30]

The United States Congress passed the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) in 1994. It describes a dietary supplement as a product (other than tobacco) that (1) is intended to supplement the diet, (2) contains one or more dietary ingredients (including vitamins, minerals, herbs, other botanicals, amino acids, and other substances) or their constituents, (3) is intended to be taken orally as a pill, capsule, tablet, or liquid, and (4) is labeled as a dietary supplement on the front panel. This means that dietary supplements are regulated as foods within the meaning of the act and such products do not require pre-market notification or registration except for new dietary ingredients (NDIs). [Pg.225]
