Carbon, although the second most abundant element in living organisms, accounts for only 0.02% of the mass of the earth s crust. It is present in carbonate minerals, such as limestone (CaCC>3), and in fossil fuels, such as coal, petroleum, and natural gas. In uncombined form, carbon is found as diamond and graphite. 

An entity can be a person, server, organization, account, or site. 

Both internal and external metrics are valuable. Internal metrics provide information to those throughout the organization with the information needed to evaluate the progress and effectiveness of the process safety management system. External metrics allow outside stakeholders to evaluate the organization s performance and to hold those within the organization accountable for unacceptable performance, (See Chapter 7 for a discussion on accountability.)... 

Two organizations account for harmonization of new and revised standards the Pharmacopeial Discussion Group (PDG) and the International Conference on Harmonisation (ICH). Primary impact is attributed in this cycle again to the PDG consisting of the USP with the Japanese and European pharmacopeias. Joint open conferences held on an international basis were crucial to any progress here because these ensured direct contact among experts from the three pharmacopeias (see Open Conferences and Meetings, earlier). 

Viral and bacterial organisms account for most episodes of infectious diarrhea. Common causative bacterial organisms include Shigella, Salmonella, Campylobacter, Staphylococcus, and Escherichia coli. Food-borne bacterial infection is amajor concern, as several major food poisoning episodes have occurred that were traced to poor sanitary conditions in meat-processing plants. Acute viral infections are attributed mostly to the Norwalk and rotavirus groups.

Lack of accountability for results is viewed by our experts as one of the top reasons why most corporate diversity and inclusion efforts fail. Supporting this viewpoint, a recent SHRM report (2010b) emphasizes that accountability should be considered a best HR practice in fostering diversity and inclusion within organizations. Accountability requires careful attention to measurement in order to assess progress and determine areas for improvement. For example, a Coca-Cola representative noted.
