Assessing Progress

Treatment plans are effective only if they help clients and families improve. To be able to determine progress, you need to review treatment plans periodically. Usually treatment teams will conduct weekly interdisciplinary staff reviews of a client s progress, and the staff s recommendations for improving care will be documented in the chart. These interdisciplinary staff meetings are quite useful, 

A Word to Family and Friends About the Advantage of Being Involved 

Part of participating in treatment is to educate yourself about drug problems and their treatments. You will be called upon to be a source of support by the client after treatment, just as you always have been. Therapy or treatment may teach you new ways to show your support, ways that perhaps neither you nor your loved one (or friend) have considered before. You may learn new ways to encourage and reinforce your loved one s efforts toward recovery. 

Assessments that measure changes in symptoms from one session to the next can be quite helpful in documenting progress on reducing anxiety or depression. The therapist or counselor can use those data when discussing progress with other staff, or can even share such data with the client if it is deemed to be useful for the client. I would not share those data in order to confront lack of progress, however, because that would place a client on the defensive.

Typically, exposure and risk assessments conducted during regulatory evaluations are performed in a tiered or phased approach. What Are the Steps to Implement a Sustainability Audit Process In 1987, the World Commission on Environment and Development (Brundtland Commission) called for the development of new ways to measure and assess progress towards sustainable development (USD, 1997). The refinement of a sustainable development audit process has been ongoing since that initial call to action from the Brundtland Commission yet, to date, a fully mature audit process for assessing sustainable development has not yet emerged.
