The utihty stream gets started at operating temperature and flow rate. In the following experiments, the utihty stream is heated so as to initiate the reaction. The main and secondary process tines are fed with water at room temperature and with the same flow rate as one of the experiments. Once steady state is reached, operating parameters are recorded. Process tines are then fed with the reactants, hydrogen peroxide and sodium thiosulfate. At steady state, operating parameters are recorded, and a sample of a known mass of reactor products is introduced in the Dewar vessel. Temperature in the Dewar vessel is recorded until equilibrium is reached, that is, until the reaction ends. This calorimetric method is aimed at calculating the conversion rate at the product outlet and thus the conversion rate in the reactor. The latter is also determined by thermal balances between process inlet and outlet of the reactor. Finally, the reactor is rinsed with water. This procedure is repeated for each experiment... [Pg.278]

The prototype test results are correlated by using the operating parameters directly, while the basic study test results (including photographic records and experimental measurements) are used in microscopic analysis based on the local flow characteristics and their constitutive correlations. [Pg.334]

All GC-MS analyses were performed on a Hewlett-Packard 5985 quad-rupole mass spectrometer. Pertinent chromatographic and mass spectral operating parameters are described elsewhere (2). Spectra were collected and recorded in the total ion mode. Individual component spectra were manually compared with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-National Institutes of Health (USEPA-NIH) library spectra to provide component identifications. All quantitative data were provided as referenced to the dio-anthracene internal standard. [Pg.250]

Critical quality attributes and operating parameters should be documented and monitored. The program may include a combination of in-line sensors or recorders (e.g., a conductivity meter and recorder), manual documentation of operational parameters (such as carbon fdter pressure drop), and laboratory tests (e.g., total microbial counts). The frequency of sampling, the requirement for evaluating test results, and the necessity for initiating corrective action should be included. [Pg.457]

The major concern with document linking to validation is with master batch records and SOPs. The defined ranges for the operating parameters (as established in development) as defined in the master batch record are confirmed to be satisfactory during the validation effort. There is no requirement, nor should there be, to establish on a commercial scale that success is possible at the extremes of these ranges. That type of confirmation is ordinarily restricted to developmental trials, in which the financial impact is less significant. The only common exception to this practice is in the validation of sterilization processes, in which the performance qualification efforts will oftentimes use worst-case conditions at or below the routine sterilization parameters. [Pg.88]

Fig. 5 shows the temperature record from one of the experiments. The bed height has been kept around Tl. The figure shows how the pyrolysis front moves up. This has been observed in all the experiments although the speed of the front has varied. It has been found that several operational parameters like the velocity of the front, the feeding rate and the air excess ratio depend on the temperature of the char reduction zone (Fig. 6). [Pg.436]

Infrared spectra were recorded on a Nicolet model 598 IR spectrophotometer using the thin film method. Liquid samples were analysed using a Hewlett Packard 5880A series gas chromatograph (GC) equipped with a flame ionisation detector and a DB17 (30 m x 0.53 mm i.d.) fitsed silica capillary column. The operating parameters were as follows detector tenq>eraturc 22S°C injector temperature 22S°C temperature program, 5 min at 50 C heated at a rate of 5 C/min to 210 C held for 23... [Pg.1519]

Another method known as "differential scanning calorimetry (/) records the differential electrical energy necessary to maintain sample and reference at an equal and linearly increasing temperature. Here also it is claimed that the area under a peak is directly proportional to the energy absorbed or liberated in a transition and is unaffected by sample geometry, sample heat capacity, or such instrument operating parameters as scanning rate (/). [Pg.8]

The mass spectrometer may be divided into a number of discrete components a sample inlet, an ion source, one or more analyzers, a detector, and finally, a computer to both collect data and control the operational parameters of the instrument (Figure 1). In principle, gas-phase neutral molecules are ionized so that they may be separated by the electric and / or magnetic fields of the analyzer according to their mass (m) to charge (z) ratios (m/z). The ions are then detected and recorded as a mass spectrum, graphing the ion abundance against the m/z ratio of the individual ions (Figure 2). [Pg.329]

During operation, the TDU s operating parameters are measured and recorded to ensure correct operation and to prevent accidental releases of contaminants. While there are several possible parameters to monitor, the following are recommended where applicable treated soil exit temperature, vacuum in the TDU, pressure drop in the APC, waste feed rate, afterburner temperature, off-gas exit temperature from the TDU, stack gas velocity and temperature, and the flow rate and pH of acid-gas scrubber liquor. ... [Pg.2991]

These should include operating parameters and limits for critical variables, calibration, maintenance and preventive maintenance, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and records. [Pg.173]

In order to facilitate the recording of each of the manufacturing operations,it is desireable and, in certain cases, essential (for example, sterilization by heat), that the parameters) which is/are indicative of the correct functioning of the operation be recorded automatically. [Pg.382]

Critical operating parameters (e.g. time, power and temperature) for each mixing, blending and drying operation should be laid down in the Master Production Document, monitored during processing and recorded in the batch records. [Pg.493]

The FI manifold and operational parameters are shown in Fig. 8.1. A 10-s loading period with 30-s injection is recommended. 100 p sample is injected into a water carrier after being filled into the sample loop, and merged downstream with the sodium hydroxide to generate ammonia which is transferred through the gas diffusion membrane into the acceptor stream. The absorbance change of the acceptor is recorded and peak heights taken for NH4-N concentration evaluation. [Pg.212]

The FI manifold and operational parameters are shown in Fig. 8.2. Either 100 or 300 pi sample loops are used, corresponding to the two different analytical ranges. The samples are injected into a water carrier and merged with the MB dye solution before being segmented by dichlorobenzene solvent. The extraction takes place in the 3 m extraction coil and the separated organic phase is directed to the spectrophotometer flow-cell to record the peak absorbance. The. peak height is used for evaluation. [Pg.214]

The recorded operating parameters captured by state-of-health data have great utility when a problem exists, the operator can review the most recently collected state-of-health data to diagnose the problem and determine corrective action. In addition, state-of-health data can be scanned automatically to attempt failure prediction. Reanalysis of state-of-health data from the systems described in this chapter has identified subtle hardware failures not detected by system operators until months later. [Pg.320]
