Step 2 allows you to identify uses of the chemical or chemical category that were included In Step 1 but that are exempt under section 313. Do not include In Step 2 exempt forms of the chemical not included in the calculations in Step 1. For example. If you did not report the freon contained in the building s air conditioners in Step 1, you would not include the amount as exempt in Step 2. Step 2 is intended for use when one form or use of the chemical is exempt while others forms require reporting. Note the type of exemption for future reference. This worksheet should be retained In either case, to document your determination for reporting or not reporting. Do not submit this worksheet, or any other calculations, with your Form R report. Retain the worksheet for your records. 

Report releases and off-site transfers to the nearest pound. Do not report fractions of pounds. 

You must report the location of the POTW in Section 1 in Part II of Form R. Do not report any information about the on-site treatment plant in this section. You do not need to report items that make up the structure of your facility, such as walls any flooring, installation, or wiring. Also, you do not need to report the furnishings in your facility, such as desks, chairs, carpets, and draperies. When completing the survey you do not have to make employees account for their personal possessions, such as matches. If the facility owns and operates a number of vehicles, do not report the gasoline, motor oil, etc. in those vehicles. However, you must report the gas tank you have on site for fueling vehicles, and the motor oil and other reportable supplies you might keep on hand for maintenance. 

Water treatment over the past 100 years has grown into a complex science. It is of interest to note that in the 1880s a steamship left the port of Liverpool in the UK with instructions that the boiler water was to be treated with a mixture of cow dung and peat. A short time after leaving Liverpool, the ship s boiler exploded and the ship sank. It was not reported whether the explosion was due to the unusual method of water treatment.
