Nitrogen chemical plant production

The NC samples were supplied from plant production lots and the listed nitrogen contents under Chemical Analysis were determined by a nitrometer technique these values are usually precise to within a few hundredths of 1%. The... [Pg.358]

Chemical plants are a series of operations that take raw materials and convert them into desired products, salable by-products, and unwanted wastes. Fats and oils obtained from animals and plants are hydrolyzed (reacted with water) and then reacted with soda ash or sodium hydroxide to make soaps and glycerine. Bromine and iodine are recovered from sea water and salt brines. Nitrogen and hydrogen are reacted together under pressure in the presence of a catalyst to produce ammonia, the basic ingredient used in the production of synthetic fertilizers. [Pg.6]

However, we want to do even better. In order to ensure transparency of the process of improvement, we have published long-term global environmental goals that we want to achieve. By 2012, BASF plans to cut emissions of greenhouse gases by 10 percent per metric ton of sales product and emissions of air pollutants from its chemical plants by 40 percent compared with 2002. We will also reduce emissions of both organic substances and nitrogen to water by 60 percent and heavy metal emissions by 30 percent. [Pg.417]

Agriculture production of mineral fertilisers and marketing of fertiliser products and nitrogen chemicals operation of gas plants and marketing of industrial gases. [Pg.277]

Utilities are required for operation of the main process reactors and related units for pretreatment of raw materials and processing of the products, for safe and efiftcient operation of plant and treatment of effluents. Main utilities are electrical power, treated water, steam, dry air, heating fuels (mediums), nitrogen flushing for the chemical plant. [Pg.17]

Commercial PMMA plates were obtained from Weiwei Kou (he helped us to obtain the PMMA plates from Shanghai Nanlian Plastic Products Corporation). The PMMA plates were cut into small pieces (10 x 20 nun). They were cleaned hy soaking in water with a detergent and processed in an ultrasonic cleaner for 15 min and then rinsed with copious amount of deionized water. Finally, they were dried under a stream of nitrogen. Stearic acid was obtained from Beijing Shunyi Chemical Plant, China. Ethylenediamine and anhydrous ethanol (Beijing Chemical Plant, China) were used as received. [Pg.154]

Nitrogen was an important component of some of the materials used or produced in Payen s chemical plants. Payen developed a method for determining nitrogen, which consisted in heating the sample to red heat and collecting the volatile products in dilute sulfuric acid. The process was modified by Will and Varrentrapp and was superceded later by the well-known Kjeldahl method (41,44). [Pg.52]

The plant is operating well. During government ownership of the facility, modifications were made to improve minor problems and operation (8). Basin Electric has made additional investments and modifications to further improve operation and recover some of the valuable chemical by-products (9). The plant now operates at a production level of about 160 million scf/d of SNG and annual capacity factors of about 110% of original design (10). Table 3-3 is the gross material balance for the plant at current production levels. Table 3-4 lists the many potential chemical by-products. The plant already sells sulfur ammonia and small amounts of liquid nitrogen. [Pg.81]
