Latex nitrile

Films deposited from compounded nitrile latices can be vulcanized with sulfur and accelerators, assisted by relatively high levels (ca 4.0—5.0 parts /100 DRC) of ziac oxide. For other uses, nitrile latices are sometimes used ia unvulcanized form. An appHcation of medium soHds nitrile latex, eg, Nitrex J-6849 and Polysar 845, has been ia preparation of oil-resistant foams for lubricants ia heavy-duty beariags, such as railroad-car journal boxes. [Pg.255]

Because of their widespread use in the American workplace, butyl rubber, nitrile latex, neoprene latex, poly(vinyl alcohol), surgical rubber latex, and Viton elastomer were chosen for the present studies. The composite/bonded substances of this study were not in all cases presently available as commercial material for protective garments, but rather were chosen to determine their potential for resistance to solvent permeation. Likewise, Teflon gloves were included in these studies simply because they are commercially available. [Pg.241]

For the homogeneous, nonbonded materials evaluated in these studies (butyl rubber, neoprene latex, nitrile latex, polyethylene, polyvinyl alcohol), surgical rubber latex, and Viton elastomer), only the perlyVinyl alcohol) did not correlate well in this relationship. As has been shown in Fig. 6, most likely the polyethylene... [Pg.258]

The latexes upon which this industry developed were natural rubber and polychloroprene for solvent resistance. However, technology is advancing to permit penetration of carboxylated nitrile latex for optimized solvent resistance and tougher abrasion resistance. Among the competition to latexes in this field are poly(vinyl chloride) plastisols. As technology develops in producing small particle size latexes from polymers whose synthesis is loo water-sensitive for emulsion polymerization, the dipped goods industry will quickly convert to their utilization from the solvent-based cements of these polymers now employed Prime candidates include butyl rubber, EPDM, hypalon, and vlton. [Pg.314]

NBR latices can be also used in adhesive applications. The use of latex has the advantage of avoiding the previous solution of the polymer before application and has favourable environmental treats. Compounding with a resorcinol-formaldehyde solution allows to bond nitrile rubber to cotton or rayon fabric. Nitrile latex can be mixed with PVC latex to give excellent adhesion of polypropylene carpet and plywood backings. Combinations of nitrile latices and styrene-butadiene latices provides good laminating bonds for saturated paper and woven fabrics. [Pg.297]
