Nonwoven wipe categories include products for babies and adults, the food service and electronics industries, medical and clean room appHcations, industrial cleaning, computer diskettes, and household products such as dusters, tea towels, shoe cleaning cloths, towelettes, and hand towels. Nonwoven fabrics are used to filter air, water, petroleum (qv), food, and beverages. Nonwovens loaded with abrasives, cleansers, or finishes can be found in a variety of products used by many industries and in many homes to scour or poHsh. Also, a majority of garments designed to protect industrial workers and consumers from hazardous environments are made from nonwoven fabrics. [Pg.158]

NIOSH/MSHA-approved respiratory protection devices should be used. For skin protection, use of protective garments and gloves of Viton, Nitrile, or PVA constmction should be made. The acute effects of overexposure to styrene are shown in Table 6 (74). [Pg.487]

Isobutjiene—isoprene elastomer (Butyl) has high resistance to oxidation, resists chemical attack, and is the elastomer most impervious to air. Because of these properties it is often used for protective garments, inflated air stmctures, cold air balloons, and fumigation covers. [Pg.297]

Testing for the presence of permeated chemical contaminants requires that pieces (in the case of contaminated soil this would be typically those that visually indicate contamination) of the protective garments be sent to a laboratory for analysis. [Pg.157]

Ihe asteridc denotes a warning flag shewing that the permeation rate, which is unknown, was not used in the expert decision module, so the Estimated Protection Time of the garment is possibly hi. ... [Pg.70]

Avoid skin trauma. Sunburns can induce a flare-up of psoriasis. Sunscreens with a sun protection factor of at least 15 should be routinely used when outdoors often a sun protection factor of 30 is recommended. Avoid scratching the skin, which could lead to excoriations and exacerbate psoriasis. Loose-fitting cotton garments should be worn to minimize skin irritation. [Pg.952]

The exposure value thus yielded provides a measure of the skin exposure with and without consideration of a protective garment and gloves (personal protective equipment = PPE), and may be taken directly for comparison with appropriate data from relevant toxicity studies for assessment of the risk via the dermal route. [Pg.115]

Do not re-enter treated areas/crops on the day of application unless wearing the personal protective equipment specified for the application of the product. Re-entry activities on or in treated areas or crops may not be carried out during the first 24 hours after application of the product. Wear a protective garment and protective gloves during the first 48 hours after application. [Pg.116]

Structural firefighters protective clothing is recommended for fire situations only it is not effective in spill situations or release events and should never be used as the primary chemical protective garment to enter an area contaminated with vesicants. [Pg.150]

Chemical Protective Suit A single or multi-piece garment constructed of chemical protective clothing materials designed and configured to protect the wearer s torso, head, arms, legs, hands, and feet. [Pg.302]
