In the last few years, sensitizations to latex proteins have been found with increasing frequency (Rustemeyer et al. 1994 Wrangsjo et al. 1994 Munksgaard et al. 1996 Field 1997). In particular, powdered, natural latex gloves are considered to cause latex sensitization by exposure to aerosolized natural latex proteins (Field 1997)- Notably, powder contamination of dental implant sites may impair the long-term results and success of dental clinical procedures (Field 1997). [Pg.904]

Latex gloves, balloons, condoms, and other elastomeric products are produced by dipping metal molds into a latex that can consist of either natural or synthetic rubber.
