The Clementine orbiter obtained high-resolution multispectral reflectance data. In comparing spectra with soil compositions at 39 locations sampled by Apollo astronauts, Blewett et al. (1997) determined a correlation between specific spectral features and chemical composition. This enabled Lucey et al. (1998) to develop an algorithm to estimate accurate FeO and Ti02 abundances from Clementine spectra. [Pg.448]

By analogy, a hyperspectral data set is defined by at least 50 planes an absorbance map is acquired for each wavelength in the spectral range. If the wavelengths number less than 50, the term multispectral imaging is used. [Pg.412]

IR spectroscopy is a fast, simple, and cheap method for the qualitative detection of certain functional groups on insoluble supports [77-79]. Dried supports can be used directly to prepare KBr pellets for standard recording of IR spectra [54,80-82], Newer IR-based techniques, which require much less support material than required for a KBr pellet, include single-bead FT-IR spectroscopy [16,77,83-86], single-bead Raman spectroscopy [87], near-IR multispectral imaging [88], and the simultaneous analysis of several different beads by FT-IR microscopy for analysis of combinatorial libraries [89,90],... [Pg.11]

From these and other data it follows that accuracy in the estimate of radiation balance as a function of space coordinates depends on cloud distribution, their state, and atmospheric pollution, as well as on the chosen size of pixels for spatial averaging. In this connection, Henderson and Chylek (2005) used image data from the Multispectral Thermal Imager to evaluate the effect of spatial resolution on aerosol optical depth retrieval from satellite imagery. It was shown that aerosol optical depth (AOD) depends weakly on pixel size in the range 40 x 80 m2 to 2,040 x 4,080 m2 in the absence of clouds and changes monotonically with the growing size of pixels in clouds. [Pg.36]
