Hites 1978, 1979). The annual mean concentration of phenol in water from the lower Mississippi River was 1.5 ppb (EPA 1980). River water in an unspecified location in the United States was reported to contain 10-100 ppb of phenol (Jungclaus et al. 1978). Phenol was detected, but not quantified, in a Niagara River watershed (Elder et al. 1981) and in 2 of 110 raw water samples analyzed during the National Organic Monitoring Survey (EPA 1980). In the STORET database, 7% of 2,181 data points for U.S. surface waters were positive for the presence of phenol the mean and range of the reported concentrations were 533 ppb and 0.002-46,700 ppb, respectively (EPA 1988c). 

Most of the world s drug markets start with the farmer. Unlike other crops, however, the cultivation of opium poppy, coca leaf and cannabis take place under threat of eradication, and so the location and the number of hectares tilled vary substantially from year to year. UNODC, in cooperation with the relevant national authorities, conducts drug crop monitoring surveys in all of the worlds major opium poppy and coca producing countries. Changes in the number and location of hectares under cultivation, as well as crop yields, can thus be tracked with some precision. 

Stage V denotes the operation that includes a long period (decades) during which usually monitoring surveys are carried out aimed at optimised planning and implementation of preventive measures in order to ensure a smooth functioning of the pipeline. 

For a studied area the volume, accuracy and quality of the survey at similar natural conditions are strictly in line with the geotechnical survey stages and the consequent tasks. The studied area is narrowing from a conceptual and feasibility survey to a monitoring survey. As for the physical environment, here the detail level of the in-depth study will increase. 

A number of antidepressant drugs, particularly SSRIs, can increase plasma prolactin concentrations, although galactorrhea is uncommon. In a prescription event monitoring survey of about 65 000 patients, compared with SSRIs, moclobemide was associated with a relative risk of galactorrhea of 6.7 (95% Cl = 2.7, 15) (727). However, this was substantially less than the risk associated with the dopamine receptor antagonist risperidone (relative risk compared with SSRIs 32 95% Cl = 14, 70). 

A recent review by the USEPA of atrazine (USEPA, 2006) concluded that dietary exposure to atrazine and its chlorinated metabolites is low. The extremely low frequency and magnitude of detectable triazine residues in monitoring surveys of more than 250000 commodity samples confirm that human exposure to triazines through the diet is minimal.

The Japan Soap and Detergent Association has voluntarily implemented monitoring surveys since 1994 on the concentration of surfactants in the surface layer water of rivers in Japan in order to monitor the situation of persistence of surfactants in public waters and evaluate the effects ofsurfactants on aquatic organisms [2 ]. Table 8.7 shows the measurement results of the concentrations of four surfactants regulated by the PRTR system in the major Japanese rivers during the period from June 1998 to September 2003 (mean levels and highest levels) [2]. The highest levels in the table were all lower than the predicted no-effect concentrations (PNEC) [3, 4] and therefore it was considered that the surfactants cause almost no risks to the ecosystem in the environmental waters. 

From the previous discussion it must be becoming clear how the two technologies of GPS and GIS will complement each other in conducting an environmental radiation monitoring survey. Most of the points have already been made and here we will pull them all together.
