The majority of viruses that infect plants have single-stranded, positive-sense RNA genomes. It has therefore been necessary to use infectious cDNA clones for the in vitro manipulation of RNA viruses, allowing them to be developed as effective tools for the commercial production of target proteins in plants. These in vivo and in vitro human metabolism studies indicate that pyrethroids undergo rapid metabolism and elimination as observed in rats, and qualitative metabolic profiles (e.g., kinds of metabolites) of pyrethroids are assumed to be almost the same between humans and rats, suggesting that a large database of animal metabolism of pyrethroids could provide useful information for the evaluation of behavior of pyrethroids in humans. Nowadays, human pesticide dosing studies for regulatory propose are severely restricted in the US, and thus detailed comparison of in vitro metabolism (e.g., metabolic rate constants of pathways on a step-by-step basis) using human and animal tissues could be an appropriate method to confirm the similarity or differences in metabolism between humans and animals.

Only one study thus far has evaluated the effect of CCM fortification of the diet on serum lipid profiles. Another study (202) of sulfadiazine pharmacokinetics in carp treated by the intraperitoneal route showed an elimination half-life of 17.5 h at 20 C. Both acetylation and hydroxylation metabolic pathways appeared to occur, but they only represented 2% and 0.41 % of the dose, respectively. This is in strong contrast to the metabolism profile of sulfadiazine in mammals, where hydroxylation is much more important.
