Mesh material

Usually not suited for materials smaller than 30 mesh. Material does not tumble, except in Roto-louvre dryer. Latter operates at higher temperatures Suited to smaller objects that can be loaded on each other. Can be used to convey materials through heated zones. Roto-louvre not suited. Not apphcahle Special designs are required. Suited to veneers. Roto-louvre not applicable... [Pg.1188]

Typical applications include primary devv atering of phosphate rock matrix and silica sand products following vv et screening. In ore dressing it is used rnainlv to protect large-diameter thickeners bv scalping out-l-65-mesh material,... [Pg.1780]

The liquid stationary phase in a GLC packed column is adsorbed on the surface of a solid substrate (also called the support). This material must be inert and finely divided (powdered). The typical diameter of a substrate particle is 125 to 250 ft, creating a 60- to 100-mesh material. These particles are of two general types diatomaceous earth and Teflon . Diatomaceous earth, the decayed silica skeletons of algae, is most commonly referred to by the manufacturer s (Johns Manville s) trade name, Chromosorb . Various types of Chromosorb, which have had different pretreatment procedures applied, are available, such as Chromosorb P, Chromosorb W, and Chromosorb 101-104. The nature of the stationary phase as well as the nature of the substrate material are both usually specified in a chromatography literature procedure, and columns are tagged to indicate each of these as well. [Pg.344]

Flame arrestors are typically constructed of a close mesh material and, in this type of service, have a tendency to plug due to atmospheric moisture and dirt and, thus, require frequent inspection and cleaning. [Pg.245]

Asbestos fibers are found worldwide in many products as reinforcement in cement water pipes and the inert and durable mesh material used in filtration processes of chemicals and petroleum, for example. However, asbestos is not the only inorganic fiber in use today. Synthetic inorganic fibers abound. Glass fibers have replaced copper wire in some intercontinental telephone cables. Fiberglas (a trade name) has become the insulation material of choice in construction. Carbon and graphite fiber composites are favored materials for tennis racket frames and golf clubs. Fibrous inorganic materials have become commonplace in our everyday lives. [Pg.3]

The coke for synthetic graphite is also calcined before further processing. It is calcined until a sample of —35 + 100 mesh material shows an electrical resistivity of less than 0.05 ohm-inch. The same type of calciners are used that are used to calcine coke for the aluminum industry (29). The calcined coke retains a major portion of the sulfur present in the green petroleum coke (1). Low-sulfur, green coke is preferred. [Pg.287]

As in the case of Dpg, b i function of physical properties and the geometric characteristics. S. of the wire-mesh pad. A more closely woven and thicker pad produces larger droplets, and hence a higher Kg, which makes possible a faster vapor velocity, V(H and a smaller drum diameter. However, this is limited by the interfacial tension between the mesh material and the liquid (i.e., the wettability of the material), lnlcrfacial tension is another property that is difficult to determine. [Pg.105]

Example A fine 100 mesh material with an average density of 50 Ib/cuft that has average flowability and is moderetely abrasive would have a code designation 50A1oo36 if it were dusty and mildly corrosive, it would be 50A1oo36LT. [Pg.78]

Figure 8.3 shows the distribution of multiple materials deposited on a multiple-ply nonwoven substrate. This substrate included a polymer mesh material embedded between two nonwoven layers to enhance strength. The 5.8 cm x 4.6 cm image in Fig. 8.3 shows three separate areas on the substrate where different surface composition is observed. [Pg.179]

Florisil PR Use 60/100-mesh material, available from Floridin Co., 3 Penn Center, Pittsburgh, PA 15235, or an equivalent product available from Supelco, Bellefonte, PA 16823. [Pg.953]

SatnpCe Preparation. Seventy grams of sample, previously calcined at 538°C, was dispersed in about 125 mL of sodium metaphosphate solution and "wet screened" using a sieve stack of 250, 270 and 325 mesh, 8-inch diameter sieves. The sieves were washed with water until the effluent was free of any particulate and then rinsed with acetone to de-water. After air drying, the contents of each sieve were transferred to a porcelain dish and the material was recalcined at 538°C. Appropriate weights taken during this procedure allowed for the determination of percent moisture in the starting material and sieve analysis relative to the appropriate sieve fractions. The total +325 mesh material was recombined and mixed for the test. [Pg.419]
