Mercury oxide-bromine

Mercurous Bromide. Mercurous hi.omide[15385-58-7] Hg2Br2, is a white tetragonal crystalline powder, very similar to the chloride, and prepared in much the same way, ie, by the direct oxidation of mercury by bromine or by precipitation from mercurous nitrate by sodium bromide. It is sensitive to light, less stable than the chloride, and is not of appreciable commercial importance. [Pg.113]

Contact of dust or powder with strong oxidizers can cause ignition or explosion. BENSULFOID (7704-34-9) Combustible solid (flash point 405°F/207°C). Finely divided dry materia forms explosive mixture with air. The vapor reacts violently with lithium carbide. LIQUID AMMONIA (7664-41-7, anhydrous, compressed gas or cryogenic liquid 1336-21-6, solution in water) Difficult to ignite, but can detonate in confined spaces in fire.
