Machining, part processing operations

The sterile solutions are filled in different sizes of ampoules/vials under aseptic conditions. For this purpose, all operations and conditions should be validated according to the approved protocols to ensure the sterility during the aseptic processing to validate the sterilization cycle for A-ml vial filling machine parts and accessories by three heat penetration studies and a microbial challenge test using B. stererotbermophilus strip. [Pg.595]

The preceding discussion has shown that ene.rgy savings in plastics processing are possible in the area of machine modification, new process machinery, processing operation of the machine itself, and in the area of weight reduction by part redesign and foaming of the resin. [Pg.20]

Because the plastic is processed between the required heat and its critical heat of degradation, the time of heat becomes extremely critical and an important part of the complete process. For example the processor will minimize the amount of melt in the nip of the rolls. The residence time of the plastic flux at high heat must be controlled and limited. PVC is especially sensitivity to heat and time at heat. What is required is proper setting of the machine controls and operation within set limits. The processing variables of a PVC plastic (such as flow, heat stability and softening point) are strongly influenced by polymerization technique, MWD, and the extent of any polymerization (Chapter 1). [Pg.377]

The production cost break-down itemization includes, in addition to the above indicated cost of raw material and cost of financing, the cost of energy for the process, labor, maintenance and repairs, insurance, taxes and royalities. These costs have been variously listed in the study reports. Estimates range from approximately 15 dollars per ton to over 20 dollars per ton of finished product. It is not the purpose here to present a detailed balance sheet or income statement. There has been far too little operating time of the Stillwater plant to establish the long-term costs yet. The replacement of machine parts has been a... [Pg.201]

From all this it should now be well understood why and that all manufacturers of mechanical process equipment need extensive test centers, which include a laboratory for the determination of feed and product properties and facilities for the evaluation and selection of design and process data. The personnel of this department are also the link to the customers, both new and old (existing), from whom new ideas and feedback (know-how) are obtained that are an important part of machine design, process lay-out, and equipment performance, including predicted operating parameters. [Pg.935]

What the raw product should be like to provide suitable yield and quality is dictated as much as anything by the final form of the processed product. The unit operations themselves and the nature of the machines and processing media or chemicals used to implement them have additional requirements and effects. Together they determine, for instance, whether there will be opportunity to exclude undesirable or damaged parts of the fruit, whether the texture needs to be extra firm or the solids content preferably high, and whether such factors as browning rate or juiciness are likely to be problems. Each product seems to have a different combination of requirements, as shown by the ratings in Table 2 and amplified in the text to follow. [Pg.67]

In manufacturing processes, it is often easy to make adjustments to the average of a process. It is a mistake to make these adjustments on the basis of inspection results without the aid of a control chart. For example, if a dimension of a machined part is inspected and is found to exceed the upper specification, an adjustment is made to the machine so that the average dimension of future parts is lowered. If a batch of a particular chemical is outside of specifications, an adjustment is made by changing the amount of catalyst added to the next batch. In both of these cases, there ate circumstances in which the adjustments described will improve the performance of the process and circumstances in which the adjustment will result in even worse performance. It is vital that both managers and operators be able to distinguish between these two sets of circumstances. Fortunately, there is a simple way to do this. [Pg.1830]

The column titled Table (12) corresponds to the equipment number for the plant. For example, Table 7-4 refers to the ram mdling machine class. The operations sheet column titled Process Description (13) are instructions to the shop that they will follow in making the part or subassembly. The instructions for operation number 10 to the shop are listed in Figure 3. The process description gives a fisting of the elements that are pertinent to estimating the operation. [Pg.2312]

While other methods of reparing machine parts, such as electroslag and submerged-arc welding, have become popular, the thermite process has remained competitive because it requires no capital investment and is easily performed as a one-at-a-time operation. Normally, a certain amount of preheating is desirable, but recently a Self-Preheat process has dispensed with this. ... [Pg.248]

Selection of Cutting Tools Machining is realized by controller motion of cutting tools in relation to the workpiece. Appropriate selection of cutting tools is therefore a major part of process planning. The tools are chosen according to the attributes of the workpiece and product features as well as the machine tools and operations that have been selected to produce them. [Pg.270]
