Sheeting Operation

Complex Flow Sheets Operating plants do not consist of single flashes, neat exchangers, distilfation towers, or reac tors. As the number of pieces of eqmpment increases within the unit under study, the reconciliation becomes more difficult. For example. Fig. 30-21 presents a more comphcated, three-module unit. 

With respect to the quantity of book materials to be neutralized in libraries, it is too laborious to treat books in a single-sheet operation. Only a mass scale deacidification process is acceptable. Hence, several mass deacidification processes have been developed. They are discussed further. 

It is beyond the scope of this chapter to give details of the technology for the separation of antibodies. Instead, first some basis is presented and then how liquid chromatography is usable for the adsorption, separation, and purification of antibodies is explained. Method development phases such as, for instance, resin screening, optimization of running conditions, flow sheeting, operational parameters for productivity optimization, and the choice of system components, will not be detailed here. For general reviews, see Refs. 71 and 72.

When thin members are bonded to thicker sheets, operating loads generally tend to peel the thin member from its base, as shown in Fig. 9.23. The subsequent illustrations show what can be done to decrease peeling tendencies in simple joints. Often thin sheets of a material are made more rigid by bonding stiffening members to the sheet. 

An operational Incident can be defined as any event which results In reactor operation outside of established limits, or the overexposure of personnel to radiation. Two approaches are used at HAPO to minimize such events. The first Is to reduce the opportunity for Incidents to occur. This Is done by means of Process Standards, detailed operating procedures, the use of check and data sheets, and by providing trained and experienced personnel. The second approach is to provide instrumentation to shut the reactor down automatically upon Indication that abnormal operating conditions exist.
