Lodging resistance

Improved lodging resistance the desired properties are a reduction in plant height and a stiffer stem, which can withstand rain and storm. 

Lodging resistance, plant height, and stem termination are traits important in cultivar development. Major genes control stem termination however, the final plant height and lodging resistance of adapted cultivars is considered quantitative and must be selected for using field trials in the target environment. 

The development of low-erucic acid rapeseed edible oil cultivars began after the identification of the discussed genetic sources of low erucic acid in both rapeseed species. Generic breeding objectives were still to develop locally adapted rapeseed cultivars with improved productivity and seed quality. Selection in both species was for maturity, seed yield, uniformity, lodging resistance, oil content, and iodine value in the oil. Seed quality improvement now included seed oil containing less than 5% erucic acid. 

Lodging resistance and plant height are important traits in cultivar development. Lodging reduces seed yield in flax and may hinder harvesting of the crop. 

Lodging in flax may be associated with incidence of pasmo (Vera et al., 2011). Plant height at maturity and lodging resistance are considered quantitative characters and are selected for using field trials in the target environment. 

The abrasive must also be sufficiently tough to resist breakage on impact. Rice is a poor substitute, since it tends to shatter on impact and small particles lodge themselves in bearings and seals. Again, the closer the injection to the deposit, the less significant the toughness. 

The normal procedure in scientific agricultural research has historically been to focus almost exclusively on crop-by-crop experiments designed to test the impact of variations in inputs on yields. More recently, other variables have come under scrutiny. The variety is well resistant to the frost killing and is resistant to lodging. The inflorescences are white with delayed flowering period from Rekord variety. The essential oil content is middle to high, with the standard content of carvone (over 50 %). This variety is suitable to all growing regions. 

Abnormal hemoglobin causes deformation of red blood cells, which can become lodged in capillaries also confers resistance to malaria. 

The presence of tubercles generally increases the roughness of the metal surface that in turn increases the resistance to fluid flow. Large tubercles may break loose from the surface as a result of shear stress, and become lodged in downstream equipment such as heat exchanger header boxes.
