In azole N-oxides the bond between the nitrogen and the oxygen atom is formed by an overlap of a lone pair orbital at the N-atom with an empty p-orbital at the oxygen atom. In the literature the N-O bond has been depicted as a dipolar single bond, a double bond, or as an arrow as shown in Scheme 2. The dipolar representation is used here. The double bond representation is usually applied in literature search engines. [Pg.3]

The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). Located at the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, MD, USA. The home of the GenBank DNA sequence database PubMed literature search engine sequence search tools (e.g., PSI-BLAST) genomic sequence navigation tools. A substantial repository of resources in all areas of bioinformatics. [Pg.335]

Titles of potential resourees were obtained by eonducting a literature search and an industry survey. Simultaneous literature searches were condueted by CCPS and SAIC. CCPS eoneentrated on obtaining CPI data resources while SAIC used a literature search conducted for the nuclear power reliability eommunity. These literature searches used in-house eompany, engineering, and public libraries and recommendations from members of the user eommunity. At the same time, a questionnaire was sent to professionals who eonduct CPQRAs. The survey requested information on the data resourees used by the companies and whether they had plant-speeific data that could be used by CCPS. Members of the CCPS Equipment Reliability Data Subcommittee were also asked to eompile lists of data resources with which they were familiar and which they had used for reliability or risk analyses. As a result, an extensive but not necessarily eomplete list of data resource titles was assembled. Any resources uncovered after the publisher s eutoff date and not reviewed have been included in Appendix D. [Pg.27]

The scientific and technical literature abounds with much information, adding slowly to the massive factual data required for the design engineer who relies solely on his own literature search. [Pg.407]

PLASTEC. The Plastics Technical Evaluation Center (PLASTEC) is one of approximately 20 technical information analysis centers sponsored by the US Dept of Defense (DoD) to provide the defense community with a variety of authoritative information services. Located at the Armament Research Development Command -(ARRADCOM), Dover, NJ, PLASTEC has been serving this community since 1960 via state-of-the-art reports, handbooks, newsletters, current awareness studies, engineering assistance, bibliographies, literature searches, technical inquiries and special investigations on plastics, composites and adhesives... [Pg.787]

Science-specific search engine. Searches for different types of information (abstracts, articles, books, conferences, theses, and disssertations) in various sources (literature databases, web resources). [Pg.342]

Precondition of a successful electroorganic synthesis is an optimal arrangement of all incorporated components. Therefore, all available information from literature, supplemented, if possible, by results of own experiments, should be considered. The best way to get actual information about suppliers of materials and equipment - that probably may be very quickly changing-is the Internet via a search engine. [Pg.38]

Finally, the scope of the discussed literature is not confined to recent contributions but extends back to the 1970s because a number of excellent studies have not been repeated since then and often do not appear on Internet search engines. [Pg.299]

In Writing on Your Own task2B, you generated a list of three to five keywords related to your paper topic. Use these keywords to search for peer-reviewed journal articles about your topic. The goal is to find at least four articles relevant to your research area. Search scientific databases such as American Chemical Society Publications or ScienceDirect be cautious with general Internet search engines, such as Google, because they do not limit searches to the primary literature. [Pg.44]

Some approved chemical abbreviations and acronyms, with their spelled-out equivalences, are given in table 3.2. When in doubt if an abbreviated form is correct, check The ACS Style Guide or search the literature (using, e.g., the search engine on the ACS Web site). [Pg.75]

In this text we will typically employ the more common (semisystematic or trivial) names of polymers but it is important in searching the literature using any CA-driven search engine that you are familiar with CA naming for both monomers and polymers. [Pg.735]

PLASTEC is one of 20 information analysis centers sponsored by the Department of Defense to provide the defense community with a variety of technical information services applicable to plastics, adhesives, and organic matrix composites. For the last 21 years, PLASTEC has served the defense community with authoritative information and advice in such forms as engineering assistance, responses to technical inquiries, special investigations, field trouble shooting, failure analysis, literature searches, state-of-the-art reports, data compilations, and handbooks. PLASTEC has also been heavily involved in standardization activities. In recent years, PLASTEC has been permitted to serve private industry. [Pg.121]

The NCBI s Entrez is apowerful database search engine. This integrated search engine provides a menu (http //www.ncbi.nih.gov/Entrez/index.html) offering the user selections to search biomedical literature (PubMed), databases on OMIM, nucleotide sequence, protein sequence, whole genome sequences, 3D macromolecular structures, taxonomy (organisms in GenBank), SNP,... [Pg.497]

Project Prospect is at the time of writing the first real application of semantic enhancement to primary research literature. By using open standards such as the InChl and the Open Biomedical Ontologies, the aim was to remove the ambiguity of searching (this remains to be well integrated with the search engines), but the information is now held in a structured form that can make this happen. In this first implementation, the information is used to add a layer of additional information (visualizations and definitions) and identify relationships between our own related HTML articles. [Pg.159]

Literature searches—the problem here is that much of the information available on construction materials is not available in the usual chemical engineering journals and books. Also, there is so much information available, it is hard for the nonspecialist to choose the best information. A technical expert may be helpful here. [Pg.104]
