List of signatures

A list of signatures of all the relevant staff has to be included in the quality manual in order to identify them in the documentation of the quality system. 

Only the names of study personnel need be listed in the report. The signatures required are those of the study director and those individuals described in 58.185(a)(12). A laboratory is permitted some discretion in the listing of names. The names of technicians and animal-care workers need not be listed. The list of names is usually limited to senior scientific or supervisory staff... 

While there is some overlap among these, the regulatory requirements are easier to evaluate when taken in these separate parts. Break up your evaluation of any new or existing system into these three areas. Create a generic list of questions or preferred features based on these three areas, keyed to specific sections in the regulation, then apply these questions or research these features for the systems in question. Remember that not all electronic records require signatures, so the electronic signature controls may not even be relevant to the system under review.

PROSITE is a database of biologically significant sites and patterns (amino acid residues) formulated from a known family of proteins as the characteristic familial identifiers or signatures that can be used to detected such family from the query sequences of proteins. Table 12.4 lists the signatures for processes using UF gas. In the conversion step, one could look for uranyl fluoride, but the isotopic ratio would not change from uranium ore (i.e., no fractionation). However, an analytical method that yielded oxidation states of atomic uranium and fluoride, such as ESCA (electron spectrometry for chemical analysis), could be used to identify the uranyl compound. 

Table 13.9 shows the list of nuclear explosion phenomena as well as the appropriate techniques which can be used for their detection. Different geophysical, radionuclide and visual observation technologies, allowed by the CTBT, are to be applied to search for signatures of nuclear explosions (NE) depending on the possible test environment underground, underwater or atmosphere. 

Overall, the research effort to identify health properties of the dried plum relies on two primary signatures for superfruit status—dietary fiber and mixed polyphenols. A Japanese research group has done much of the work on polyphenols, establishing a list of candidates for antioxidant or other cellular effects of prune compounds. Oligomeric proanthocyani-dins, chlorogenic acid, caffeoylquinic acid, various other phenolic acids, and lignans have exhibited antioxidant activity in test-tube studies. Each of these compounds is under research for potential beneficial roles supporting human health. 

Target signatures used were taken from a commercially available database of laboratory-measured absorption spectra and were convolved with the spectral response of the sensor (as were the atmospheric contributions described previously). Target species were determined from the ground truth listing of potential releases provided with the dataset. Species in the target library used were methane, propane, butane, ethane, sulfur dioxide, ethylene, propylene, and benzene. 

There should be a list of sample signatures of authorized personnel. 

A log must be maintained with (f) names of persons who conducted tests, (ti) dates when tests were conducted, (tii)indication of test results, (if) documentation of any deviations from procedures, (f) signatures of management and RP who reviewed, (vi) testing and results of preventive maintenance by outside vendors, and (vii) a list of all repairs of malfunctioning or inoperable equipment. 

Other schemes do not have specific group keys, they only let a number of people who all have their own key pairs sign a message such that the result is shorter than the list of individual signatures would be, e.g., [Okam88, OhOk93].
