Liquid commercial

Hie common acrylic ester monomers are combustible liquids. Commercially, acrylic monomers are shipped with DOT red labels in bulk quantities, tank cars, or tank tmcks. Mild steel is the usual material of choice for the constmction of bulk storage facilities for acrylic monomers. Moisture must be excluded to avoid msting of the tanks and contamination of the monomers. Copper or copper alloys must not be allowed to contact acrylic monomers intended for use in polymerization because copper is an inhibitor (67). [Pg.165]

Yellow oily liquid. Commercial grade is 80-90% agent. Both geometric isomers have similar toxicity. This material is hazardous through inhalation, skin absorption, penetration through broken skin, and ingestion, and produces local skin/eye impacts. This material is absorbed through the skin very quickly. [Pg.291]

Because of their considerable commercial importance, the composition and stability of anthocyanin-rich extracts have also been investigated [264], The SEC and HPLC techniques described above were employed for the analysis of four solid and four liquid commercial anthocyanin-rich extracts. The results of SEC and HPLC measurements are compiled in Table 2.92 and Table 2.93, respectively. The measurements indicated that various chromatographic techniques provide useful information on the quality of commercial anthocyanin-rich extracts and they can be successfully applied for the quality control of this class of products [265],... [Pg.279]

Physical Form. Slightly viscous yellow liquid commercially available form is 95-98% pure, and impurities include linear, branched, and cyclic isomers. [Pg.708]

Dewar. Allow the dry shipping Dewar to stand for several minutes upside down until it is completely empty of liquid (commercial shipping companies will refuse to ship a container that contains liquid). [Pg.68]

Colorless liquid commercial grade has a pungent disagreeable odor, in its purest form the odor is sweet and pleasant flammable refractive index 1.6295 density 1.261 g/mL at 20°C boils at 46.3°C freezes at -110.8°C critical temperature 279°C, critical pressure 77.97 atm, critical volume 173 cm3/mol slightly soluble in water, 0.29 g/lOOg at 20°C soluble in alcohol, ether, benzene, chloroform, and oils forms an azeotrope with water (CS2 H2O = 97.2%)... [Pg.186]

All ionones, irones, and methylionones, as well as the corresponding pseudocompounds (their synthetic acyclic precursors) are slightly viscous yellowish liquids. Commercial irones and methylionones are mixtures of isomers that are named according to their main component. Their composition varies with the method used to prepare and cyclize the pseudocompound and fluctuates considerably between different manufacturers. [Pg.63]

A precipitate may be formed as a result of chemical reaction between separately soluble gases or liquids. Commercial examples are productions of sodium sulfate, ammonium sulfate, and ammonium phosphate. [Pg.528]

Uses Benzene is a clear, colorless, sweet-smelling liquid. Commercial benzene often consists of toluene, xylene, phenol, and traces of carbon disulfide. Benzene in large volumes is produced by fractionation distillation from crude oil, solvent extraction, and as a by-product of coke-oven processing. Benzene is found in coal tar distillates, petroleum naphtha, and gasoline.1... [Pg.211]

Uses Xylene occurs in the manufacture of different petroleum products and as an impurity in benzene and toluene. It is a colorless and flammable liquid. Commercial xylene is a mixture of three isomers, namely, ortho-, meta-, and paraisomer. It is extensively used in industries associated with paints, rubber, inks, resins, adhesives, paper coating, solvents, and emulsifiers. It also is used in the manufacture of plasticizers, glass-reinforced polyesters, and alkyl resins. Xylene is used as an important raw material. [Pg.212]

In addition to these unique properties, they are also readily prepared from commercially available reagents. It is now possible to source ionic liquids commercially from a number of suppliers in a range of different qualities. [Pg.253]

The hydrophilic ionic liquid [C2mim][EtS04] has received great attention, becoming one of the first ionic liquids commercially available in bulk. Ionic liquids containing methyl- and ethyl-sulphate anions can be easily and efficiently prepared under ambient conditions by the reaction of 1-alkylimidazoles with dimethyl sulphate and diethylsulphate (7) [21] ... [Pg.375]

Specifications for the analysis of phosgene will depend upon the end-use application, but a typical analysis of the liquid commercial product may be as given in Table 4.4 [ICI69,ICI78]. Military specifications for use in munitions (COClj, >98% free Cl, <1% acid (HCl), <0.5% residue, <0.5%) also exist [1394a], and the analysis of phosgene for isocyanate manufacture (for polyurethane production) has been described in detail [4S8a]. [Pg.188]

Ethanol has long been employed as a solvent in pharmaceuticals and is stiU prevalent in a recent survey in America, it was found that 5 of the 32 pediatric liquids commercially available still contain alcohol (57). Since it also acts as a preservative, it is second only to water in its use in liquid preparations. It has also been suggested that it may enhance the oral absorption of some active ingredients (64). [Pg.230]

Colorless liquid commercial product is a mixture of cis- and fran -isomers and is yellowish density 1.25 at 20°C (68°F) boils at 107°C (224.6°F) miscible with water and most organic solvents, insoluble in hexane and petroleum ether corrosive to iron, steel, and brass. [Pg.785]

Carbodiimide groups undergo a [2-1-2] cycloaddition reaction with isocyanates to form four-membered ring cycloadducts. This reaction is used to convert the low melting MDI into a liquid commercial product (Isonate 143-L) (85) The liquid MDI is used in RIM applications. [Pg.4156]
