Liner plate

Crete piping systems can be lined with special salt-glazed vitrified-clay liner plates, joined with a die-cast aspnalt joint. Concrete pressure pipe is competitive with cement-lined ductile iron for underground plant water systems. [Pg.977]

Both all-rubber liners, and rubber liners with metal lifter bars are currendy used in large ball miUs [McTavish, Mining Engineering, 42, 1249-1251 (Nov. 1990)]. Both types (Fig. 20-32) have rubber-liner plates, separated and held in place by lifter bars. Rubber liners have the following advantages Abrasion and impact resistance, 15 percent... [Pg.1609]

Liner Plate and Tile In addition to the above mentioned brick there is also liner tile, smooth faced with dove tailed or grooved backs. These are used to line concrete pipe and trenches. They are set into the forms, joints filled with corrosion resistant mortar, then concrete of the pipe or trench walls poured. Similarly, half round tile known as channel tile is available. This may be installed in... [Pg.55]

The liner plate lining of the underside of a concrete cover does not offer permanent protection. For one thing, there is no membrane between the liner plates and the concrete-only the layer of hot asphalt over the mortar joints. The liner plates are not as dense as, have a higher absorption than, acid brick-6% allowable-and they are thinner than acid brick, The absorption testing of liner plates is accomplished under ASTM C-301-by no means as stringent a test as that used for acid brick. Consequently, the economical life of this kind of a cover is limited. In vessels handling ambient temperature wastes, the cover may last a number of years. But if the vessel operates at an elevated temperature and contains a volatile corrosive such as hydrochloric acid, tile may start falling off in less than a year. In the past the only alternative was the same kind of covers used for steel tanks. [Pg.262]

A dominant problem In demolishing the activated zone of a PCRV Is removal of the continuous, firmly anchored liner. One method of easing this problem may be to fill selected liner cooling pipes with liquid explosive which, when detonated, will split the liner plate Into panels In readiness for demolition and removal of the backing concrete. [Pg.4]

The variation of temperature with time and the expansion of the liner plate are considered in designing for the thermal stresses associated with the DBA. [Pg.50]

All shield tunnels must have a primary lining to support the ground and take the thrust of the shove jacks. Traditionally, segmental ctist iron liners have been used other methods are ribs and lagging, fabricated steel liners, pressed steel liner plates, and prectist concrete segmental liners. [Pg.706]

Liner Plates. Vitrified clay units shapied in the arc of a circle, used as a protective internal lining for pipes, culverts and other structures. They usually have tenon ribs on their backs to key them firmly to the structure to be protected. ASTM C479 refers. [Pg.187]

Mills Acoustic enclosure of the mill shell obstructs heat dissipation and makes inspection difficult, i. e., is not satisfactory. Boltless liner plates on rubber backing, or rubber liners, do not sufficiently reduce noise emission. A commonly employed and generally satisfactory solution is as follows Whole grinding plant with all its noise sources (mill, drive, air separator, conveyors, elevators, filters, etc.) accommodated in a closed sound-insulated building with central control room for operators and with additional ventilation (see Funke, 1969 and 1973, Techn. Merkblatt, Bundesverband der Deutschen Kalkindustrie, 1975). [Pg.346]

The diaphragms (division plates or partitions) are subjected not only to wear, but also to considerable cyclic mechanical loads. These affect more particularly the supporting frames on which the liner plates or the slotted screen plates of the diaphragms are mounted. The inevitable differential movements between these frames and the mill shell, and also between them and the plates they carry, have to... [Pg.542]

In this example the clinker entry temperature is 1120°C. Although radiation and convection losses are kept low by the thermal insulation provided by the refractory lining and the insulated liner plates, the clinker was cooled to a final exit temperature of about 170° C, without having recourse to water injection. With water injection at a rate of about 3% of the clinker throughput the final temperature was lowered another 40°, which was not attended by any ascertainable increase in heat consumption. [Pg.610]

The term "renewable parts" or "wearing parts" relates to those parts which, in consequence of intimate contact with the production materials or auxiliary materials, are subject to natural wear (e. g., grinding media, liner plates, refractory materials, linings of chutes, etc.). [Pg.752]
