The lincosamide family of antibiotics includes lin-comycin (Lincocin) and clindamycin (Cleocin), both of which inhibit protein synthesis. They bind to the SOS ri-bosomal subunit at a binding site close to or overlapping the binding sites for chloramphenicol and erythromycin.
