Last runnings

Spare rotors are frequently part of a new compressor contract. A deci sion must be made regarding the testing of the spare rotor. The recommended practice is to mechanically run spare rotors, using the same procedures used for the main. As a matter of logistics, the compressor is usually shipped with the last run rotor. If a performance test has been specified, it can be run before the rotors are changed and both rotors performance tested. This would not be economical, however. [Pg.414]

The SCREEN model will then read the responses to its prompts from the EXAMPLE.DAT file rather than from the keyboard. The output from this run will be stored in a file called SCREEN, which can then be compared with the EXAMPLE.OUT file provided on the program. The file containing the redirected input data may be given any valid DOS pathname. To facilitate the creation of the input file for the SCREEN model, SCREEN has been programmed to write out all inputs provided to a file called SCREEN.DAT during execution. Therefore, at the completion of a run, if the user types the following, the last run will be exactly duplicated ... [Pg.300]

Glattwasser, n. (Brewing) last run of wort. Glattwerk, n. glazing machine. [Pg.188]

It should be borne in mind that both in the first and last runnings there is some of the main product. The vapour pressure of a distillable substance is so considerable even below the boiling point that its vapours already pass over along with the more volatile constituents (usually residues of solvent) of the original material. On the other hand the boiling point of a substance rises when it is mixed with higher boiling substances. [Pg.18]

Hence it is evident that the last runnings also are not free from the main product, and when first and last runnings form an important amount it is worth while to redistil these two portions separately according to the rules given. [Pg.18]

Shelf-life. Samples of each powder were stored in screw cap test tubes in an incubator. Product from the first two spray drying runs was held at 45 2 C. Product from the last run was held at... [Pg.70]

The results obtained with sodium and water differ somewhat from those described above. Three runs were made, and except for three traces of the last run only a single rate was observed. Figure 3 shows a plot of log k (where k is the pseudo-first-order rate constant) vs. log [water concentration]. The order in water found from this plot is 1.6 compared to a value of 1.1 for the slowest rate of cesium with water also shown in Figure 3. [Pg.174]

Leaks and loss of power are the most unwanted events during freeze-drying (see the end of this chapter about defects). Therefore, it is recommended to make a leak test before each freeze-drying run, although this routine test does not have to follow the procedure described above. If the leak rate is measured once, the pressure as a function of time during the evacuation period can be recorded and compared with the evacuation plot of the actual run. If these plots do not deviate from each other, one can conclude that no additional leak has developed. This routine test should only be applied if the cleaning and sterilization of the plant have been the same as before the last run, to keep the desorption qualities of the surfaces as identical as possible. [Pg.222]

Our last runs were with the (expensive) isotopic gas 13C1802 in our TEA laser system. We ran for some days with the diffracting grid set at 1 = 9.8595 urn (presumed resonance value), firing the laser with every other beam burst. During this period, the repetition rate of the AGS was 1.4 s. It is easy to see that a good quantity to look at to observe stimulated laser transitions is the ratio K /K. ... [Pg.1000]

The mixture is filtered through a large (4- or 6-liter) fritted funnel (conveniently, much of the supernatant can first be siphoned off) and pressed and sucked as dry as practical. The solid is washed three times each with 2-3 L of ethanol, slurrying it well each time to remove purple streaks. The last runnings of the filtrate will be lightly colored. The solid is air dried in the dark to give 1481 g (85.6% of 1729 g theoretical) of small, dense, light tan sandy crystals, mp 175-7°C (uncorr.) (Notes 8 and 9). [Pg.68]

Rows below the last one shown can be used to calculate intermediate quantities.) Execute enough runs (including the two shown above) to determine the effea on the stack gas composition of each of the five input parameters. Then for the values of p, q, r, and x% given in part (a), find the minimum percentage excess air needed to keep the dry-basis SO2 composition below 700 ppm. (Make this the last run in the output table.)... [Pg.186]

In the pyrolysis of polyethylene at 810°C, the low boiling fraction contains, apart from benzene, more than 10 wt-% of cyclo-pentadiene. If benzene-rich first runnings and last runnings (toluene-rich) are removed, one can obtain a fraction containing about 98 wt-% of benzene. The main constituents of the high boiling fractions are naphthalene, methylnaphthalene and indene, as well as highly condensed aromatics. [Pg.417]

Rectifyingx—When alcohol of special purity is required, it is further purified by special rectification. This is usually done by diluting the spirit with water to a strength of about 45 to 50 per cent., and redistilling it. Intermittent stills which fractionate the distillate (the impurities being in the first and last runnings), and continuous rectifying stills are used for the purpose. [Pg.175]

The dark color of the late run syrup is due entirely to the action of microorganisms. If these are eliminated, as light colored syrup may be made from the last run as from the first run. [Pg.360]

We assume this is not a peak from the last run. Be happy that the excluded "impurities elute early and do not disturb the chromatogram. However, if you would like to analyze these solutes, you have to use a GPC column for polymers or proteins or an ion exclusion/ion exchange column for ions or salt or change the eluent in order to alter the solvation of these strong ions (see Chapter 5 Retention of lonizable Components in Reversed-Phase HPLC). [Pg.111]

Look at the peak shapes from the last run. Any broad or tailing peaks most probably indicate ionizable components. [Pg.132]

(A) Membrane current record obtained during the last run in experiment TN-55 corrected for the capacitative transient. This curve was integrated to give the dashed curve in B. Consequently, the displacement Ax2 corresponding to Axi = — 1 would be +0.405, which is now equivalent to Ac = +0.405 x 5 = 2.03 rpm. In other words, in terms of the stirring speed, each displacement would correspond to only one-fourth of the displacement for the original design. In the last run of Table 6.3, center+5A, the value of the stirring speed would be only 110.1 rpm. [Pg.259]

Conversion (o) ee (ee of substrate). Reaction was performed in a 2 L bioreactor at 30 °C and 200 rpm using an isopropyl ether-water biphasic system with 100 mM ( )-MPGM and 900 U of chitosan-SmL. The pH was automatically controlled at 8.0-8.3 hy titrating 2% ammonia. The immobilized lipase was reused in new reactions after ee of the last run reached 99.9%. From the 7 batch of reaction, 15 g of fresh immobilized lipase (corresponding to io% of the initial amount, ca. 90 U) was supplemented at the beginning of each reaction cycle. After the 12 batch of reaction, 15 g of used immobilized lipase was substituted by 15 g of fresh lipase (ca. 90 U). The partial renewal of the immobilized biocatalyst was continued for 10 cycles (12 -21 ). [Pg.50]
