Ketoconazole Alcohol

Specific concomitant medications or consumptions (check specific statin package insert for warnings) fibrates (especially gemfibrozil, but other fibrates too), nicotinic acid (rarely), cyclosporine, azole antifungals such as itraconazole and ketoconazole, macrolide antibiotics such as erythromycin and clarithromycin, protease inhibitors used to treat Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, nefazodone (antidepressant), verapamil, amiodarone, large quantities of grapefruit juice (usually more than 1 quart per day), and alcohol abuse (independently predisposes to myopathy)... [Pg.188]

Selenium sulphide, coal tar, ketoconazole and salicylic acid are agents that can be used in dandruff. Permethrin is an insecticide indicated in the eradication of head lice. Permethrin is available as alcoholic or aqueous lotions. [Pg.250]

Drugs that may affect antihistamines include aluminum/magnesium-containing acids, cimetidine, erythromycin, ketoconazole, MAO inhibitors, and rifamycins (eg, rifampin). Drugs that may be affected by antihistamines include alcohol and CNS depressants, beta-blockers, MAO inhibitors, metyrapone, nefazodone, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and venlafaxine. [Pg.805]

Drugs that may affect benzodiazepines include alcohol, antacids, barbiturates, cimetidine, disulfiram, fluoxetine, isoniazid, ketoconazole, metoprolol, oral contraceptives, narcotics, probenecid, propoxyphene, propranolol, ranitidine, rifampin, scopolamine, theophylline, and valproic acid. [Pg.1021]

Contraindications Acute alcohol intoxication with depressed vital signs, acute angle-closure glaucoma, concurrent use of itraconazole or ketoconazole, myasthenia gravis, severe COPD... [Pg.36]

Temperature and pressure are rarely optimized in HPLC, but these parameters are very important in SFC, hence can alter retention, selectivity, and resolution. Toribio et al. [149] presented the chiral separation of ketoconazole and its precursors on Chiralpak AD and Chiralcel OD CSPs. The authors also reported that alcohol modifiers provided better separation than acetonitrile. Further, Wilson [143] studied the effects of composition, pressure, temperature, and flow rate of the mobile phase on the chiral resolution of ibuprofen on a Chiralpak AD CSP. It was observed that temperature affords the greatest change in resolution, followed by pressure and composition. An increase in methanol concentration, pressure, and temperature has resulted in poor chiral resolution. At first chiral resolution increased with an increase of flow rate (up to 1.5 mL/min) but then started to decrease. Contrary to this, Biermann et al. [135] described the... [Pg.91]

ALCOHOL KETOCONAZOLE May T risk of liver damage. Symptoms of nausea, headache, flushing and discomfort (similar to a disulfiram-type reaction) may occur Additive liver toxicity Be aware... [Pg.715]

Interactions. Drugs that lower gastric acidity, e.g. antacids, histamine H2 receptor antagonists, impair the absorption of ketoconazole from the gastrointestinal tract. Like all imidazoles, ketoconazole binds strongly to several cytochrome P450 isoenzymes and thus inhibits the metabolism (and increases effects of) oral anticoagulants, phenytoin and cyclosporin, and increases the risk of cardiac arrhythmias with terfenadine. A disulfiram-like reaction occurs with alcohol. Concurrent use of rifampicin, by enzyme induction of CYP 3A, markedly reduces the plasma concentration of ketoconazole. [Pg.266]

A disulfiram-type reaction of ketoconazole with alcohol has been reported (SEDA-12, 231). [Pg.1971]

Clinically important, potentially hazardous interactions with alcohol, aprepitant, clarithromycin, CNS depressants, delavirdine, digoxin, efavirenz, fluconazole, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, grapefruit juice, indinavir, itraconazole, ivermectin, kava, ketoconazole, propoxyphene, ritonavir, saquinavir, St John s wort... [Pg.21]

Clinically important, potentially hazardous interactions with alcohol, clotrimazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, phenytoin, rifampin, ritonavir, St John s wort... [Pg.155]

Patients on long-term warfarin should have an oral anticoagulant treatment booklet. Warfarin has many interactions with commonly prescribed drugs. For example, its effects are enhanced by ibuprofen (analgesic), ketoconazole (antifungal) and cimetidine (used to treat stomach ulcers) and reduced by phenytoin (antiepileptic) and alcohol. [Pg.72]

The ketoconazole 2% cream contains the broad-spectrum synthetic antifungal agent ketoconazole 2%, formulated in an aqueous cream vehicle consisting of propylene glycol, stearyl and cetyl alcohols, sorbitan monostearate, polysor-... [Pg.184]

Ketoconazole doubled the AUC of rimonabant, and other potent CYP3A4 inhibitors are also expected to raise rimonabant levels. Potent CYP3A4 inducers are expected to lower rimonabant levels. Due to a lack of information the manufacturers suggest that rimonabant should not be taken with antidepressants. Rimonabant does not appear to affect the levels of oral contraceptives, di-goxin, midazolam or warfarin, and alcohol, lorazepam, and orlistat do not appear to alter rimonabant levels. [Pg.205]
