A review of the recent synthetic progress on ozonides at the Karlsruhe University has appeared <1997MI145>. Two older reviews on the structure of the reactive intermediates 1-3 involved in these reactions deserve to be mentioned Carbonyl oxides zwitterions or diradicals <1990AGE344> and Preparation, properties, and reactions of carbonyl oxides < 1991CRV335>. Reviews on cyclic peroxides < 1995COS225> and dioxiranes < 1989CRV1187> are also relevant. [Pg.192]

Bonding is simply the most dependable solution, said Moritz Berard, a 23-year-old student from Karlsruhe University who participated in the contest. For me, bonding is one of the best solutions there is, and easily the simplest and most dependable one. It opens up whole new worlds and gives an immense amount of design freedom. ... [Pg.14]

Harold (Harald) Tults was bom in Estonia but he graduated from the University of Brno CR in 1932. He obtained in 1949 the PhD degree from Karlsruhe University, and moved to the United States in 1950. He was in the early 1950s then assistant hydraulic engineer within an engineering company of Chicago IL. He there also chaired the Estonian Society, and was member of the Estonian Students Corporation. He finally lived in California. Tults became ASCE Member in 1959. [Pg.919]

It was a great pleasure for me to spend couple of years at the Karlsruhe University. I would like to express my gratitude to my supervisor Prof. Wim Klopper for his guidance, constant encouragement, constructive criticism and support throughout the course of this work. [Pg.95]

As a first remark, it should be noted that large portions of the archives of Karlsruhe University were lost during World War II (WWII) so that official documents about, e.g., the hiring process and the departure of Staudinger do not exist any longer (K. Nippert, July 2013, personal communication). [Pg.53]

At Karlsruhe University, where the Hahn solution was founded, in 1977 Heisel /8/ completed experiments on dynamically loaded bearings in which he measured the displacement and pressure distributions to clear up this problem. For details of testing and measurement methods see /8/. The load pattern was chosen in this way, to obtain sudden pressure changes of several orders in ruptured, possibly only partly-fiI led areas. This was achieved by means of a sudden change from positive to negative wedge, as shown in Fig. 7. Using this method, it was hoped to solve the problem in question. [Pg.469]

Lang superposition. The experiments at Karlsruhe University confirm this In displacement and pressure extent. Moreover, nearly twenty years of practical experience In the field of dynamic loading gives much more security than a one-sided mathematical viewpoint, which is not the unique one. There Is no mathematical rule against superimposing independent solutions of a linear differential equation, as long as the physical boundary conditions are fulfilled. This Is common In vibration, thermodynamics or stress-strain calculations. [Pg.670]
