Jacob

Fears of homelessness lie dormant in most people, until health or resources are in jeopardy. Any catastrophic or chronic illness can bring those fears and the possibility of homelessness closer to the surface. People with MCS and electromagnetic fields sensitivity (EMFS) are particularly vulnerable. Christina Jacobs is one example, and a model for facing the reality of homelessness with hope and perseverance. She has lived out of her car for most of seven years. 

Christina believes that each time someone goes through a difficult period and emerges with priceless wisdom and increased inner strength, we all benefit in some way. If this is true—and I believe it is—then the world is a better place for her presence. Pier story is one that can arouse deep fear, open you to your own inner strength, or both. It is a story of desperation, not easy to read. 

A native of Portland, Christina is a former world-class athlete and former massage therapist with a B.A. in Russian and Japanese languages, now working toward a doctorate in naturopathic medicine. Hoping to eventually receive grants to pay for her education, she currently pays for classes with a part of her monthly disability income of several hundred dollars.
