It is known that nature and quality of a catalyst carrier material is important to the performance of a catalyst. The carrier impacts the catalytic reaction and process by its chemical, physical or mechanical properties and/or provides co-catalytic function. Careful understauding of the effects of each preanalytical variable on the biomarker data is complex and necessitates a staged approach conceptually similar to the fit-for-purpose analytical validation of a biomarker assay (see Chapter 41). In the early exploratory phase of biomarker investigation, standardization of procedures with a defined protocol for sample collection and handling will permit comparative interpretation and analysis of the data within study and/or between studies. For quantitative investigations, standard lines are necessary, or the standard addition method must be used. The evaluation of the derivative peaks is made by measuring the peak height according to the PP, PZ, or PT method or by estimation of the peak area. After this test, the technique which gives the smallest error deviation should be chosen. If the derivative spectra have more than one maximum, not all peaks are suited for evaluation it may be that the one of them is superposed by satellites which can lead to deviations in the linearity of the standard curves.

Considering the superb anti-tumor activity of investigated fruits, pomaces and standards it is evident that some emphasized flavonoids, phenolic acids, provitamins and vitamins in higher amounts significantly contribute to this activity.
