Inventory management evaluation

Distribution scenario evaluation considers inventory management and transportation time scenarios. Initially, the impact of maximum bandwidth inventory boundaries on profits and volumes is analyzed. Maximum bandwidth inventories are increased and decreased starting from a basis scenario as shown in fig. 89.

Given the above background, we can look at inventory policies to answer the question of when to order. This inventory policy tells us when the level of inventory or the inventory position of an item should be reviewed to identify whether an item should be ordered. Until the computer took over most inventory functions, the inventory policy usually used was a periodic review policy. With this policy the inventory manager would count the amount of inventory available at prescribed times. Now that computers can continuously review the inventory status of thousands of item, most firms use a continuous review policy. This means that every time an item is used, the computer calculates the balance in stock (i.e., determines the item s inventory position) and evaluates whether this inventory position is at or below a reorder point. 

Employers should map and evaluate all the risks of the work, suggest and implement measures that assure an improvement in the level of protection and evaluate the policy. This is called the Rl E-procedure, Rl E being the abbreviation of Risk Inventory and Evaluation. The employers should inform and instruct the workers about the risks and the measures taken to manage the risks. Workers must follow the safety instmctions and use the provided protective equipment. 

A large number of performance measures are used to evaluate supply chain performance. These include those characterizing customer service, inventory management, and other dynamic aspects. Variability of obtained results is assessed.

Your procedures should detail your plant evaluation methods and require consideration to be given to the overall plan of the plant, automation, ergonomics, operator and line balance, inventory levels, and value added labor content. Reports of the evaluation should be required so that they facilitate analysis by management and auditors. 

Identified hazards can either be reduced at the root (e.g., reduction of inventory) or by introduction of protective systems (e.g., automatic emergency shutdown). The increased understanding of the chemistry and the process that is obtained from hazard evaluation procedures provides guidance for many other elements of process safety management as well (e.g., procedural instructions, emergency strategies, personnel training, and preventive maintenance).

How effective are proposed control or management strategies This question could pertain to the confidence with which a standard will be met. For example, Hanna et al. (2001) assess the uncertainty associated with estimates of predicted ambient ozone levels subject to a particular emission scenario, and Abdel-Aziz Frey (2004) evaluate the probability of non-compliance with United States National Ambient Air Quality Standards for ozone based upon uncertainty in emission inventories that are propagated through an air quality model. A probability distribution of estimated exposures can be compared with a point estimate of an exposure benchmark in order to determine the probability that the benchmark will be exceeded and, if so, by how much.

Once the hazardous nature of the facility s inventory have been assessed, management should evaluate its capacity to respond to each potential type of incident. Deficiencies identified in the response plan should be addressed as the plan is developed.
