Leakage internal

The vessel can be supported off the stmcture and sometimes off the rack. Some economy may be possible by combining two or more services into a common vessel by using a single vessel that has an internal head. Differential pressure as weU as concerns over internal leakage need to be considered for these services. This can be done with vertical vessels as weU. A knockout section can be provided below or above the main vessel. 

The suction gas which enters from the periphery is trapped by the scrolls. The closed volumes move radially inward until the discharge port is reached, when vapor is pressed out. The orbiting scroll is driven by a short-throw crank mechanism. Similar to screw compressors, internal leakage should be kept low, and is occurring in gaps between cylindrical surfaces and between the tips of the involute and the opposing scroll base plate. 

Because there is no clearance volume expansion, as in the reciprocating compressor, the volumetric efficiency is a function of the rotor slip. This is the internal leakage from the higher pressure to the lower pressure side, reducing potential volume capacity of the compressor.

ALL HEAD STUDS AND NUTS are external and accessible without removal of valves to reach internal bolting. There is no possibility of hidden internal leakage. 

In theory, a pump delivers an amount of fluid equal to its displacement each cycle or revolution. In reality, the actual output is reduced because of internal leakage or slippage.
