Linear integrator

Integration of systems of nonlinear partial differential equations (54),(86) has been performed [33,49]. Here we indicate the principal steps of the integration procedure. While integrating (54),(86), we essentially apply the fact that the general solution of system of equations 1,2 from (86) is known [62]. With already known (x) in hand, we proceed to integrating linear partial differential equations 3,4 from (86). Next, we insert the results obtained into the remaining equations and get the final forms of the functions (x), ). [Pg.327]

A Varian 3400 gas chromatograph equipped with a flame ionization detector and a nonpolar fused silica capillary column (60 m x 0.25 mm i.d. 0.25 pm thickness, SPB-1, Supelco, Inc.) was used to analyze the volatile compounds from the model systems. The injector temperature was 250°C, and the detector temperature was 260°C. The flow rate of the helium carrier gas was 1 mL/min and the split ratio was 50 1. The temperature program consisted of a 10 min isothermal period at 35°C, temperature increases of 2°C/min from 35°C to 120°C and of 4°C/min from 120°C to 235°C, and a 40 min. isothermal period at 235°C. The chromatograms were plotted and integrated on a Varian 4270 integrator. Linear retention indices for the volatile compounds were calculated using n-paraffin standards (C6-C25 Alltech Associates) as references according to the method of Majlat and co-workers (5). [Pg.505]

These vectors are linearly independent on the rationals. The set of all their integral linear combinations defines a Z-module of dimension 3 and rank 6 called an icosahedral lattice A o, in a way similar to the axially symmetric case. A lattice point P has position vector rp with integer indices n,... [Pg.245]

Hitherto wc have applied the quantum theory only to mechanical systems whose motion may be calculated by separation of the variables. We proceed now to deal in a general manner with the question of when it is possible to introduce the angle and action variables wk and Jfc so admirably suited to the application of the quantum theory. For this purpose it is necessary, in the first place, to fix the J s by suitable postulates so that only integral linear transformations with the determinant 1 are possible for it is only in such cases that the quantum conditions (1) Jk=nkh... [Pg.86]

The rectangular co-ordinates of the system are thus periodic functions of the wk° s, as well as of the wka in other words, a periodicity parallelepiped in the wfc°-space will be transformed into another in the lo -space. Apart from an arbitrary integral linear transformation of the wk s among themselves with the determinant 1, we have, therefore,... [Pg.250]

As we have seen, certain denominators in the terms of the series of 41 will be zero if an integral linear relation exists between the frequencies of the unperturbed system, and so the method is not applicable. [Pg.261]

Greek characters always take the values 0,1,..., 4, Latin ones the values 1,..., 4. One could instead of this, for instance, use / vidx in place of log g, where Vidx does not necessarily imply an integrable linear differential form. [Pg.328]

This extension has been achieved, in the usual multigroup diffusion approximation, by Drs. Martino and Habetler [8]. Their principal tool is the theorem of Jentzsch, which is just the analog for integral linear operators of the theorem of Perron and Frobenius for non-negative matrices. As Drs. Martino and Habetler will themselves describe this work, which closely parallels [3], I will say no more about it. [Pg.120]

In the third year of the Civil engineering degree at the University of Newcastle students are required to undertake a course on finite element methods. The course focuses on the fundamentals of the finite element method including shape functions, numerical integration, linear algebra, formulation of elements (truss, beam and continuum), solution of large systems of equations and how these are used within the framework of displacement based finite element techniques. While students are not required to perform any computer programming, the course is presented in the context of how the methods are implemented in order to illustrate to students the power of the finite element method. [Pg.172]

Another idea for an active crash system is an adaptive side intrusion beam that can locally change its stiffness and deformation shape. It is designed with several hinges which can vary their stiffness and friction by integrated linear actuators. Many other ideas are currently evolving which are concerned... [Pg.410]

Linear pulses carry information in their size, that is, the pulse height or the pulse area. The output pulses from the preamplifier and amplifier are of this type. The linearity of the linear pulses is clearly crucial and much of the expense of the system comes down to maintaining this linearity. As an example, if we wish to measure an energy of say 2000 keV to a precision of 0.2 keV or better we must be sure that the gain of the system will be constant to better than 0.01 % over the period of a count. (Compare this with the integral linearity specification of typical spectroscopy amplifiers of better than 0.025 % .)... [Pg.64]

Two measures of linearity are specified by the manufacturers of ADCs - integral linearity and differential linearity. [Pg.88]
