Inland Revenue

The present occasion seems opportune to direct attention to the fact that one of the most familiar, most leadily procurable and most cheaply produced of all oiganic materials is placed beyond the reach of many students by the heavy duty levied upon it. May I, in the name of teachers of organic chemistry, appeal to the Board of Inland Revenue, on behalf of scientific and technical education, to provide institutions for higher education in science with a limited quantity of pure alcohol free of duty, thereby placing schools of chemistry in this country in the same position as those on the Continent ... 

The July 2003 report on Government IT Projects [Pearce 2003] states that in the UK Over the past five years, high profile IT difficulties have affected the Child Support Agency, Passport Office, Criminal Records Bureau, Inland Revenue, National Air Traffic Services and the Department of Work and Pensions, among others. ... 

Site needs should be established and documented in central URS and site-specific URS as appropriate. Wherever possible a common set of user requirements should be developed between sites using the same system. Specific local regulatory requirements should be clearly stated in addition to any other statutory requirements necessary to satisfy other bodies such as the financial reporting requirements of the Inland Revenue within the U.K.

Corporate index-linked do not enjoy this inflation relief. The inflation uplift is taxable—that is, no inflation credit is applied. However, certain issuers might be able to obtain an exemption from this tax. The UK s Inland Revenue decided that since corporate issuers are allowed to offset the inflation uplift against taxable income, in the year that it accretes, then corporate linker investors should not receive inflation relief. As we have said, this is not an issue for pension funds who are the main holders.

However in Italy official statistics do not reveal the complete picture because of the strength of the black economy whereby invisible tax-evading transactions take place. The magnitude of the problem, according to alleged reports of a confidential Inland Revenue memorandum, is illustrated by the figure showing that 46 of turnover is withheld for every 100 declared to the tax authorities. 

After the February 2011 earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand, the majority of businesses in the center business district (CBD) had to relocate. In the week after the quake, people at the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA) described how everyone was on the phone trying to find a place and negotiate a lease. In some cases this involved multiple locations. Inland Revenue staff, for example, are scattered in 300 different offices. Some firms have moved to residential or semi-industrial areas and others have relocated to other cities. Tourism declined and tertiary education was under pressure. A City Coxmcil survey suggests that over 60 % of businesses that moved out wanted to return to the city and the CBD was already under pressure from a number of peripheral shopping malls, though 51,000 people were...

The way in which white-collar workers are represented by unions varies. There are some unions that recruit only white-collar workers in a range of companies in one sector of the economy, for example the National Union of Bank Employees (NUBE) there are some that recruit in a variety of occupations across a range of industries and organizations in both the public and private sectors, such as the Association of Scientific Technical and Managerial Staffs (ASTMS) there are those which recruit in one relatively small section of the economy, such as the Inland Revenue Staff Federation (IRSF) and there are those where white-collar workers are recruited into predominantly manual unions, such as the Transport and General...
