Injection molding, plastics manufacturing

Large quantities of secondary cellulose acetate are used worldwide in the manufacture of filter material for cigarettes. Because of its excellent clarity and ease of processing, cellulose acetate film is widely used in display packaging and extmded plastic film for decorative signs (see Packaging materials). Injection-molded plastics of cellulose acetate are used in toothbmsh handles, computer bmshes, and a large variety of other appHcations (7). [Pg.259]

Injection Molding Plastic resin, in the form of pellets, is fed into a high temperature chamber where the resin is heated to the point that it becomes a fluid. This fluid is then fed into a mold. As it cools, the plastic takes the form of the mold to create a final shape. This is considered to be a relatively unsophisticated manufacturing process useful for such items as plastic toys and household items. [Pg.19]

Gotzmann et al. [12] of Bayer Plastics discussed the manufacture of metal-plastic hydride components, including injection molding plastics such as glass fiber-reinforced polyamides around a steel aluminum profile placed in the mold. Some applications of such components were examined, and computer-aided material selection, finite element analysis, and computer simulation systems developed for use in this technology are described. [Pg.177]

Plastic products are made by a variety of basic manufacturing processes. As an example a major method such as extrusion has subdivisions that include profile, pipe, tube, film, sheet, coating, post forming, etc. equipment In injection molding there are subdivisions such as coinjection, gas assist, foam, inmold decorating, etc. equipment. There are literally hundreds of processes used with only about the dozen, as reviewed in this chapter, that are principally used (2). [Pg.442]

Husky is a global supplier of injection molding systems to the plastics industry. Husky designs and manufactures injection molding machines—from 60 to 8000 tonnes, robots, hot runners for a variety of applications, molds for PET preforms, and complete preform molding systems. Customers use Husky s equipment to manufacture a wide range of products in the packaging, automotive and technical industries. The company serves customers in over 100 countries from more than 40 service and sales offices around the world. [Pg.627]

Process particulate pickup may significantly increase the risk of boiler foaming. This kind of problem happens in the crossover of hot to cold water during manufacturing processes, as in rubber tire factories, food can cookers and retorts, plastic injection molding, and the like). [Pg.283]

In certain processes (such as rubber tire manufacture and plastic injection molding operations), it is common for a valve sequencing system to first provide hot steam followed by cold cooling water and thus for cross-contamination to occur. The result may be the stripping of passivated cooling system surfaces by steam and for the condensate to be infiltrated by cooling water. [Pg.299]

PHAs can be manufactured to many different materials and shapes, by processing on conventional equipment for polyolefins or other plastics, e. g. injection molding, extrusion, film blowing and fiber-spray molding [141]. Furthermore, they can be processed in latex (granules in water), or in solution... [Pg.283]
