Property Owners You are not required to report if you merely own real estate on which a facility covered by this rule is located that Is, you have no other business interest in the operation of that facility (e.g., yourcompany owns an industrial park). The operator of that facllKy, however. Is subject to reporting requirements. [Pg.25]

Wood chips can also be utilized as such to produce bioethanol. The cellulose and hemicellulose material is hydrolyzed in the presence of acids (H2SO4, HCl, or HCOOH) or enzymes to yield glucose and other monosaccharides [16]. Lignin is separated by filtration as a solid residue and the monosaccharides are fermented to ethanol, which, in turn, is separated from water and catalyst by distillation. Ethanol can be used not only as energy source but also as a platform component to make various chemicals, such as ethene and polyethene. Today green acetaldehyde and acetic acid from wood-derived bioethanol is manufactured by SEKAB Ab, at the Ornskoldsvik Biorefinery of the Future industrial park. [Pg.166]

The PULSAR units are high efficiency static aerators that have been developed for municipal wastewater treatment plants and have successfully been used over extended periods of time without any operational problems such as unstable operation or plugging up during intermittent operation of the air pumps (Chourda-kis, 1999). Data have been collected from a pilot plant unit at the Wastewater Treatment plant of the Industrial Park (Herakleion, Crete). A series of experiments were conducted for the determination of the mass transfer coefficient (kLa) and are shown in Figure 17.4. The data are also available in tabular form as part of the parameter estimation input files provided with the enclosed CD. [Pg.327]

The study area is located in the northeast of Spain, along the Cinca and Vero rivers, in the Ebro River basin (Fig. 1). Six different sampling stations were selected at the Cinca River site Cl (Puente de las Pilas) and C2 (La Boquera), 20 and 12 km, respectively, upstream from Monzon site C3, just downstream from Monzon, a heavily industrialized town with a very important chemical industry site C4 (Alcolea de Cinca), site C5 (Chalamera), and site C6 (Fraga), 27, 30, and 67 km downstream of site C3, respectively. Moreover, three sampling stations were selected at the Vero River site VI (Castillazuelo), 11 km upstream from an industrial park site V2 (Barbastro), just 1 km downstream from the industrial park, and site V3 (La Boquera), 4 km downstream of site V2. [Pg.170]

Three industries were suspected to cause the BDE-209 contamination along the Vero River the first one, a textile industry which produced polyester fibers treated with flame retardants, the second one produced epoxy resins, and the third one is focused on the polyamide polymerization. Moreover, the effluent of the industrial park at the discharge site to the Vero River was also analyzed. Analysis of industrial effluents of each industry revealed that industry focused on the polyamide polymerization is the main responsible of the BDE-209 contamination, with concentration levels around 2,600 ng/L (Table 5). Nevertheless, the two other industries also contribute in some way to the total contamination. [Pg.185]

Selection of sites was directed to the analysis of the influence of different facilities and/or activities that a priori could affect natural animal populations from the river. There are at least three industrialized areas that discharge different kind of pollutants into the river system (see Fig. 1 for the location of different cities, towns, and geographical features). The most upstream one is the industrial park... [Pg.276]

Charbroiled Chemicals has one facility adjacent to an industrial park on the outskirts of the city. The facility manufactures a range of products in 200 to 1000 gal batch reactors by chlorinating various organic feed materials. The reaction products go through several purification stages, with the chlorinated organic products sealed and labeled in 55 gal drums for delivery to customers. Byproducts that cannot be recycled are neutralized and stabilized in the waste treatment facility prior to disposal. [Pg.129]

An explosion that occurred during the distillation of a solution of aqueous hydroxylamine (HA) and potassium sulfate killed four CSI employees and an employee of an adjacent business on February 19, 1999 (Figure 9,28 USCSB, 2002a). Fourteen people were injured. The CSI facility, in Hanover Township, Pennsylvania, was completely destroyed. Several local buildings in the industrial park were damaged, and windows were broken in nearby residences. [Pg.309]

All materials are commercially available from Aldrich Chemical Company, Inc., Acros Organics or Avocado Research Chemicals, Ltd. (Shore Road, Port of Heysham Industrial Park, Heysham, Lancashire, LA3 2XY, England). It is recommended that MeOH be distilled from calcium hydride prior to use. [Pg.87]

Unlike common industrial parks where factories are selected simply on the basis of their willingness to share the real estate, environmentally balanced industrial complexes (EBIC) are a selective collection of compatible industrial plants located together in a complex so as to minimize environmental impacts and industrial production costs [24,33]. These objectives are accomplished by utilizing the waste materials of one plant as the raw materials for another with a minimum of transportation, storage, and raw materials preparation costs. It is obvious that when an industry neither needs to treat its wastes, nor is required to import, store, and pretreat its raw materials, its overall production costs must be reduced significantly. Additionally, any material reuse costs in an EBIC will be difficult to identify and more easily absorbed into reasonable production costs. [Pg.441]
