10- Hydroxy-9-nitro

Using 2,6-diformyl-4-methylphenol dioxime, Tasker, Schroder, and their co-workers conducted a magnetostructural study on complex (374) (pseudo macrocyclic structure Cu-Cu 2.994 A 2J= — 904 cm-1).330 Using 2-hydroxy-5-nitro-benzaldehyde benzoylhydrazone as ligand, complex (375) (Cu-Cu 3.041 A 2J=—372cm 1) was reported.331 Using 3-formylsalicylic acid oxime Okawa and co-workers reported complex (376) (square-planar and SP geometry Cu-Cu 2.961 A).332... [Pg.815]

The 2-hydroxy-5-nitrobenzyl chloride begins to separate as a solid about one hour after the beginning of the reaction. At the end the mixture is cooled in ice for one hour whereby more crystals separate, after which the acid liquors are cither filtered or decanted from the crystals (Note 6). The 2-hydroxy-5-nitro-benzyl chloride is purified by recrystallization from 125 cc. of hot benzene (Note 7). The yield is 46 g. (69 per cent of the theoretical amount based on p-nitrophenol) of a white product melting at 129-130°. [Pg.60]

A notable characteristic of the pyrazine nucleus is its resistance to electrophilic substitution but some hydroxypyrazines may be nitrated. Nitration of 5-hydroxy-23-diphenylpyrazine with fuming nitric acid in acetic acid gave the readily purified 2-hydroxy-3-nitro-5,6-diphenylpyrazine (71) (1065) [which reacts readily with hydrazine to give 2-hydrazino-3-hydroxy-5,6-diphenylpyrazine (1124)]. 3-Hydroxy-2,5-diphenylpyrazine undergoes random nitration under a variety of strongly acidic conditions (1065) but brief boiling of an acetic acid solution of equivalent amounts of 34iydroxy-2,5-diphenylpyrazine and nitric acid produced 2-hydroxy-5-nitro-3,6-diphenylpyrazine (75%) (817). [Pg.179]

Hydroxy-3-phenylpyrazine nitrate (prepared from 2-hydroxy-3-phenylpyrazine and one equivalent of nitric acid in acetic acid) boiled in acetic acid gave 2-hydroxy-5-nitro-3-phenylpyrazine. It was postulated that, in hot acetic acid, dissociation of the nitrate was a relatively slow and temperature-dependent process which was followed by very rapid nitration of the nucleus (817). [Pg.180]

Hydroxy-5-nitro-3-phenylpyrazine with phosphoryl chloride at reflux gave 2-chloro-5-nitro-3-phenylpyrazine but at 170° gave 2,5-dichloro-3-phenylpyrazine (817). Phenylhydroxynitropyrazines are claimed not to react with dimethyl sulfate in alkaline solution or with sodium ethoxide and ethyl iodide in hot ethanol (817). [Pg.238]

Kaiser and his coworkers showed that the hydrolysis of the five-membered 2-hydroxy-5-nitro-a-toluenesulphonic acid sultone is catalysed by bases like imidazole and N-methylamidazole176. The magnitude of the solvent isotope effect kH/kD = 4.2 and 3.5, respectively, suggested that the reaction occurs via general base catalysis (64) rather than nucleophilic catalysis (65). The authors pointed out, however, that a sulphonimidazoyl... [Pg.831]

The reaction between 2-hydroxy-5-nitro-benzyl chloride with diethylamine yields 2-hydroxy-5-nitro-N, N, diethyl benzyl amine, which on reduction gives 5-amino-2-diethylamino ethyl phenol. [Pg.619]
