Health issues United States government agencies

Various government agencies will become partners in process safety issues, for example, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration in the United States [272] and the competent authorities in the European Union countries [273]. 

Mercury is a toxic environmental contaminant and is a primary issue of concern for several government agencies (e.g.. United States Environmental Protection Agency, Environment Canada, and Health Canada). Mercury transport and fate are global issues since, due to its dispersion and transformation into bioavailable forms, it can bioaccumulate not only in contaminated sites but also in remote freshwater lakes [1-3]. For example, Kejimkujik Park (Nova Scotia, Canada) has no known local anthropogenic inputs of mercury and yet contains fish and loons that have some of the highest blood mercury concentrations in North America [4,5]. 

So in 2011, the Cairns public health unit initiated a project to develop an integrated systematic approach to assessing environmental health issues and priorities after a disaster. Cairns worked with other northern Queensland local governments, indigenous and non-indigenous community agencies, the Red Cross, and the State Health Department [47]. 

Government and University Research. Because the fertility industry is so lucrative, many reproductive science and engineering apphcations have emerged from private companies. However, reproductive issues are at heart social issues, and they have national and political significance. Therefore, government institutes are also important players in the field. In the United States, for example, the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the National Institutes of Health, and the U.S. Agency for International Development are all m or sources of public funding for research within this discipline.
