Guided interviewing

Audits by definition are conducted on-site. An audit may be conducted using a variety of approaches and guides, but in general involves a team that gathers data through interviews, observation, and review of documentation. The team usually includes at least two people depending on the complexity of the facility or processes under review, tWs may expand to as many as five or more. 

The key to effective interviewing is to spend more time listening than talking. Approach each interview with an open mind, with as few preconceived ideas as possible about the facility, process, or individual you re reviewing. Remember that your goal in interviewing is not to fill out a form but to elicit essential information that will help guide your PSM system development.

In their initial stndies, Pallant and Tinker (2004) found that after learning with the molecular dynamic models, 8th and 11th grade students were able to relate the difference in the state of matter to the motion and the arrangement of particles. They also used atomic or molecular interactions to describe or explain what they observed at the macroscopic level. Additionally, students interview responses included fewer misconceptions, and they were able to transfer their understanding of phases of matter to new contexts. Therefore, Pallant and Tinker (2004) concluded that MW and its guided exploration activities could help students develop robust mental models of the states of matter and reason about atomic and molecular interactions at the submicro level. 

Commentary Ultimately, solving this problem was rather straightforward once the characteristic odor of mothballs was noted. (Keep in mind the safety aspects of smelling unknown chemicals, especially pesticides.) During the information gathering stage, perhaps interviews with elderly residents or perusal of the local newspaper at the time may have provided additional information to guide the analysis.

The final data source was a set of traditional interviews conducted at the end of the semester. Twelve students participated in these interviews, four from class B (described below) and eight from class C2. The interviews were loosely based on an interview guide and ran between 30 and 45 minutes in length. The purpose of the interviews was to inquire more deeply and directly into the experiences the students had during the semester.

The swimming pool has appeared in published reproductions of various wartime aerial photographs. Of course, these photos could be fakes but the prisoner s pool— now seen close-up- appears in a video filmed in modern-day Auschwitz. This video includes a rather surprising interview with the head tour guide and the director of the modern-day camp, Dr. Franciszek Piper. The film was made by David Cole. 

A semi-structured interviewing technique was used to allow interviewees sufficient flexibility in articulating their responses while ensuring sufficient topic coverage for the subsequent analysis. Interview questions acted as guides or probes, based on a funnelling technique (see [294]) ... 

Notes of interview with John Sweeney by Margaret Fikioris (March 2,1983) on file in the Textile Conservator s Office. John A. H. Sweeney was in the first class of fellows in the Winterthur Program in Early American Culture. He wrote Winterthur Illustrated (A Winterthur Book, 1963), the first comprehensive guide to the collection. He was Curator of the museum from 1960 to 1965, Deputy Director from 1966 to 1967, and then Senior Deputy Director for the Collections and Interpretations from 1968 to 1974. He served as Coordinator of Research from 1975 to 1979 and then became Assistant to the Director in 1979 to the present. 

Before starting the analysis every effort should be made to obtain details of the circumstances leading to the complaint or suspicion of doping or poisoning. Every case must be accompanied by an enquiry form similar to that shown on p. 39, and this should be supported, when possible, by an interview with the police officer. Was the suspect material tasted If not, what aroused suspicion Is die victim ill What are the symptoms Without clues to guide the selection of tests and screening systems, the sample is a general unknown . 

I also conducted ten interviews in the villages with local folkhealers that are taking part in the initiative. This has enabled us to take into consideration local expert (or guided)... 

The basic format of the history interview will apply to all settings, including acute care, long-term care, ambulatory care, and retail, and can be adjusted to the specific needs of that setting. Utilization of patient data collection forms may be useful for documentation purposes and for guiding the flow and consistency of the interview. There are many sources for the format of data collection forms, which are discussed in a later section.
