Operator control stations. These typically consist of color graphics monitors with special keyboards, in addition to a conventional alphanumeric keyboard, containing keys to perform dedicated functions. If a graphical display is reqnired as a function of a measurement system, a factor that must be considered is whether the record can be temporary or if it must be permanent. If the latter is required, either photographic techniques or some form of hard-copy writing system must be used. The filing of quantities of recorded data can create reference and storage problems, hence the use of temporary records is often desirable.
