The health and safety policy statement is your starting point to managing health and safety in the workplace. By law, (Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 section 2(3)) if you employ five or more people you must have a written health and safety policy. This contains your statement of general policy on health and safety at work and the organisation and arrangements for putting that policy into practice. [Pg.2]

This guidance is split into three parts. It contains a statement of general policy based on your legal duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974. Then you can record your organisational responsibilities and your arrangements to ensure the health and safety of your employees. Notes are included alongside each section to help you. Some useful publications are listed in the notes and at the end of this guidance. [Pg.2]

Generally, cleanups under RCRA corrective action or CERCLA will substantively satisfy the requirements of both programs. It is U.S. EPA s general policy for facilities subject to both CERCLA and RCRA to be deferred to RCRA authority. In some cases, however, it may be more appropriate to use both RCRA and CERCLA authorities. U.S. EPA has many procedures in place to facilitate coordination between RCRA and CERCLA programs. [Pg.470]

Quite apart from the above reflections, it should be stressed that no single approach to the problem can provide an ultimate justification for a general policy of decreasing or increasing this item of expenditure. Pharmaceutical expenditure is really just another input in health production policies, and complementariness or substitutability with other inputs, and cross-effects in general make it necessary to take an overall approach to any rationalization process. [Pg.200]

Eorthis reason, the Substitution Principle cannot be implemented to its full and necessary effect simply as a general policy statement within the regulatory framework, since this will be an insufficient driver for change. Instead it needs a clear mandatory imperative to drive it. Within REACH, this means that the Substitution Principle needs to be written into the authorisation procedure so that the availability of a safer alternative is sufficient grounds for an authorisation to be refused. [Pg.3]

The quality manual should also contain procedures on how complaints from clients or from other parties are handled. The laboratory should have a general policy, on how to deal with complaints. [Pg.153]

This book examines the specific issue of chemicals in our modern industrial society and discusses how government can enhance public health. The "quasi-regulators" such as the Antitrust Division have always employed a combination of specific enforcement actions in the courts with statements of general policy in their attempt to alter the general pattern of business conduct. They, too, left the detailed day-to-day decisions concerning what a firm might produce and how to produce it to the discretion of the firm and its management. In contrast to the prohibitions cited above on... [Pg.9]

The multiple regression analysis demonstrated that process technology responded to factor price changes in a manner consistent with the hypothesis that innovations tend to economize on relatively expensive inputs. If this phenomenon can be verified more generally, policy-makers may have greater confidence in the ability of the economy to adjust dynamically to changed availability and prices of inputs. [Pg.115]

If necessary, the Stage 5B draft may be adopted with some amendments (local requirements) corresponding to a general policy in the national or regional (European) area. If a pharmacopeia includes a local attribute after the sign-off of a text, it will inform the PDG. It is, however, preferred to include the nonharmonized text in Stage 5B as an alert to the other pharmacopeias that there will be some differences in text in the final document. [Pg.90]
