A blind may have a gasket installed on both sides but a minimum of one gasket installed on the pressure side of the blind is required. 

The starter motor should have a tight fitting cover band with a gasket installed to shield commutator arcing. 

Connections between magnesium and a dissimilar metal should be separated by an aluminum alloy 5052 gasket installed between the two metals, and the joint should be sealed. 

Fittings. Fittings connect pipes and provide for the attachment of equipment to change flow direction. They must be easily cleaned inside and out, have no exposed pipe threads, and, if of the detachable type, have an appropriate gasket. The fittings are constmcted of the same or similar materials as the pipeline and are installed on tubing. Standard shapes and sizes are specified by the 3A Standards Committee.

Software In some programmable electronic systems (PES), errors are much easier to detect and correct than in others. Using the term software, in the wider sense, to cover all procedures, as distinct from hardware or equipment, some software is much friendlier than others. Training and instructions are obvious examples. As another example, if many types of gaskets or nuts and bolts are stocked, sooner or later the wrong type will be installed. It is better, and cheaper in the long run, to keep the number of types stocked to a minimum, even though more expensive types than are strictly necessaiy are used for some applications. 

Another way to study corrosion in pipe lines is to install in the line short sections of pipe of the materials to be tested. These test sections should be insulated from each other and from the rest of the piping system by means of nonmetalhc couphngs. It is also good prac-tice to provide insulating gaskets between the ends of the pipe specimens where they meet inside the couplings. Such joints may be sealed with various types of dope or cement. It is desirable in such cases to paint the outside of the specimens so as to confine corrosion to the inner surface. 

A box or fitting must be installed at each conductor sphce connection point, receptacle, switch, junction point, or pull point for the connection of conduit system. In Division 1 areas only explosion-proof boxes or fittings are allowed. General purpose gasketed cover type fittings are allowed in Division 2 areas. 

The leaks that lead to explosions in compressor houses are often not from a compressor but from other equipment, such as pipe joints. One such leak occurred because a spiral-wound gasket had been replaced by a compressed asbestos fiber one, probably as temporary measure, seven years earlier. Once installed, it was replaced by a similar one during subsequent maintenance [30]. 

It is critical npon reassembly to check that all gaskets are properly installed and that the element is correctly aligned in the honsing to ensnre that there is no bypassing of the element. Failnre to do this may resnlt in complete loss of protection. 

Work to dimensions only. Any warping of tray due to cutting of holes must be removed and finished plates shall be made perfectly flat for Installation In tower. Manhole plates to have suitable clamps or hook bolts and gaskets. 

Miscellaneous heating coil problems. These vary from system to system. They are relatively common in HW boilers, where little or no blowdown (BD) is ever provided for BW sludge to accumulate on the external fins of the copper coils, thus preventing effective heat transfer. When coil gaskets at the installation points on the top front of the boiler weep, and where the water treatment product contains a dye, color stains surround the gasket area. 

A survey of glazing failures due to wind load indicates that improper installation of setting blocks, gaskets or lateral shims, or poor edge bite is a significant cause of failure because of the resultant unconservative support conditions. To prevent premature glass failure, a strenuous quality control program is required. 

The decision to retrofit or install new filters is influenced by plant-specific factors such as the condition of the existing filters, compatibility of the filters to retrofit, availability of space within the plant, etc. Bayer s analysis of the costs and benefits of the retrofit compared to the investment in new filters did not show a clear favourite either decision could be justified. With regard to the rubber lining, gaskets, hydraulic system etc., the Kellys were in very good condition. Because of this, the decision was made to retrofit two of the filters and to use them in a separate brine circuit for the new electrolysers, with a second circuit feeding the amalgam plant.
