Fungicides applied with activated

The systemic morpholine fungicide Corbel with fenpropimorph as its active substance is frequently applied to cereal cropping. It is rapidly metabolized in soil to fenpropimorphic acid. For the assay of fenpropimorphic acid in soil, GC-MS coupling109 has been proposed. The GC technique was used to assure the best separation for the fenpropimorphic acid from the complex soil matrix. The MS technique is very sensitive and assures the best reliability of the analytical information. The same reliability is also achieved when the HPLC-MS tandem system is used for sulfonylurea herbicide assay in soil.110... 

The members of the second subgroup are prepared from ethylene diamine (20) or its derivatives by reaction with carbon disulfide. In a sodium hydroxyde medium the disodium salt nabam, in an ammonium hydroxide medium, the diammonium salt amobam is formed (21). The sodium-ammonium salt, nambam, can also be prepared. These active substances are soluble in water. They cannot be used as foliage fungicides because of their phytotoxicity. On the other hand, they can be applied with good results for seed treatment. TBTN exhibits fungicidal and algicidal activity and has been used as an active ingredient in antifouling paints and wood preservatives. The fungicidal activity of TBTN directs preferably at wood-destroying fungi. Due to the lower tributyltin content compared with TBTO (19.5.) approximately double the addition rates have to be applied. 

In the previous review (91YGK205, 99H1157), we reported that l-hydroxy-4-nitroindole forms active ester derivatives by reaction with carboxylic acids, which can be applied to acylation of various nucleophiles. To expand the scope of the reaction and obtain novel fungicidal compounds, an attempt has been made to prepare derivatives of wasabi phytoalexin 109 (98P1959). 

When the EBI fungicides are applied later than 72-96 hours after the beginning of the scab infection period but before symptoms are visible, chlorotic spots or flecks with few or no conidia are produced in place of typical sporulating lesions (Figure 2). This is referred to as presymptom control by Szkolnik (23) and it is a form of post-infection or curative action. Dodine and benomyl are examples of fungicides with presymptom activity. Presymptom activity becomes more obvious as the time of application increases beyond the 72-96 hour after-infection period. In greenhouse trials, sprays of bltertanol, etaconazole, fenarimol and triforine reduced conidial production 85 to 99% when applied five days after inoculation (20). 

Because of their after-infection and antisporulation activity against scab, the EBI fungicides are especially suitable for use in predictive disease control programs. Under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), food tolerance restrictions are not required for benzene when it is used in accordance with good agricultural practices as an inert (or occasionally active) ingredient i formulations applied to growing crops only (EPA 1985h).
