Functional reusable

As for the solid support, several polymer-supported amines were tested (Fig. 2). For either the pyrazole and isoxazole synthesis, the best results were given by aniline-functionalized cellulose, which has also the advantage of a relatively low cost. For the 2-aminopyrimidine library, polystyrene-based piperazine and piperidine gave products with a much higher purity compared with other secondary non-cyclic or primary amines, hi both cases, the resins could be reused for up to four times before degradation in their behavior was observed. This reusability could be further enhanced (up to 10 cycles for cellulose-based aniline) when the microwave-assisted protocols were used. [Pg.143]

Minor Building performs function. Building is reusable following an explosion. Only minor repairs needed. Very little risk to occupants because of building damage. Zero to 10 days of downtime. [Pg.34]

Moderate Building performs function. Building is not reusable following an explosion. Major repairs needed that equal or exceed replacement cost. Risk of some injury to some occupants caused by building damage. Ten to 90 days of downtime. [Pg.34]

The optimisation procedure presented in this chapter entails two stages as summarized in Fig. 5.3. In the first stage, a mathematical model for minimisation of freshwater requirement is solved based on maximum potential reusable water storage, gf. For clarity, this model will be referred to as model Ml in this chapter. In the second stage, the minimum freshwater requirement obtained from model Ml is used as an input parameter in another mathematical model for which the objective function is the minimisation of reusable water storage. This model will be referred to as model M2 in this chapter. Since different amounts of reusable water will be stored at various intervals within the time horizon of interest, the minimum reusable water storage capacity will correspond to the maximum amount of reusable water stored at any point within the time horizon of interest as obtained from model M2 (Constraints (5.40)). [Pg.111]

Rhodium-catalyzed enantioselective hydrogenation of acctamido -cinnamic in water was also achieved using pyrphos bound to poly-acrylic acid as ligand.337 Roucoux described some Rh° nanoparticles which function as reusable hydrogenation catalyst for arene derivatives in a biphasic water-liquid system.338... [Pg.120]

The synthesis of benzo[Z>]furan derivatives has become a very active field because these molecules have been recently identified as having a variety of biological activities. For example, they can function as inhibitors of protein tyrosine phosphatase IB with antihyperglycemic properties <00JMC1293>, as well as potent and short-acting p-blockers in the treatment of various cardiovascular diseases . An inexpensive, reusable clay has been utilized to catalyze a facile cyclodehydration under microwave without solvent to form 3-substituted benzo[2>]furans from substituted a-phenoxy acetophenones 104. One of the important features of this procedure is that all the selected cyclodehydration reactions are complete in less than 10 minutes <00SL1273>. [Pg.154]

Our library synthesis was carried out with a set of 27 tube-shaped solid phase synthesis support, called MicroTubes. These supports are prepared by radiation grafting of polystyrene ( — 350 pmol) onto polypropylene tubes, chemically functionalizing the polystyrene with aminomethyl groups to afford about 55 imol of amine per tube, inserting a reusable Rf ID tag into each tube, and heat-sealing the tube ends to prevent loss of the tag. The chemical conversion of all 36 aminomethyl tubes was carried out simultaneously using standard procedures with rink amide linker, each with —46 pmol of available amine per tube.1 2... [Pg.21]

Even cursory inspection of peptides collected in Table 2.1 provides compelling evidence that the diversity of endogenous peptides is comprised of a much broader set of components than traditional hormones, neuromodulators and antibiotics. In spite of the availability of scattered data on the activity of selected pool components the principal question on the biological role of peptide pools remains unanswered does the bulk of pool peptides represent transient products of protein substrate destmction on their way to reusable amino acid building blocks Or do these peptides perform a useful regulatory function The answer to these questions requires systematic study of a large number of samples in adequate biological test systems. [Pg.28]

For the determination of these compounds a binding inhibition immunoassay, consisting of the competitive immunoreaction of the unbound antibody present in an analyte-antibody mixture with the hapten derivative immobilized at the sensor surface, has been applied. With the aim of assuring the regeneration and reusability of the surface without denaturation of the immobilized molecule, the formation of an alkanethiol monolayer was carried out to provide covalent attachment of the ligand to the functionalized carbodiimide surface in a highly controlled way. For DDT, the assay sensitivity was evaluated in the 0.004 - 3545 pg/l range of pesticide concentration by the determination of the limit of detection 0.3 pg/1 and the I50 value 4.2 pg/1. [Pg.126]

The same authors recently described the synthesis of similar rhodium-complexed dendrimers supported on a resin having both interior and exterior functional groups. These were tested as catalysts for the hydroformylation of aryl alkenes and vinyl esters (52). The results show that the reactions proceeded with high selectivity for the branched aldehydes, with excellent yields, even up to the tenth cycle. The hydroformylation experiments were carried out with first- and a second-generation rhodium-complexed dendrimers as catalysts, with a mixture of 34.5 bar of CO and 34.5 bar of H2 in dichloromethane at room temperature. Each catalyst was easily recovered by simple filtration and was reusable for at least six more cycles without... [Pg.118]

Most catalytic applications of ionic liquids involve a biphasic or multiphasic system, with the ionic liquids being readily and economically separated from the products and in most cases reusable. Some ionic liquids can also function as catalysts themselves. [Pg.155]

The reversibility of the sensing process is determined by the features of the (bio)chemical reaction, immobilized species (reagent and/or catalyst) and separation process involved. Very often, the slow kinetics of some such processes make them apparently irreversible in practice when in fact they are not in theory. Many of these sensors are of the irreversible-reusable type and require two steps (sensing and regeneration) for proper functioning. Only... [Pg.260]

Preparation of nonracemic epoxides has been extensively studied in recent years since these compounds represent useful building blocks in stereoselective synthesis, and the epoxide functionality constitutes the essential framework of various namrally occurring and biologically active compounds. The enantiomericaUy enriched a-fluorotropinone was anchored onto amorphous KG-60 silica (Figure 6.6) this supported chiral catalyst (KG-60-FT ) promoted the stereoselective epoxidation of several trans- and trisubstituted alkenes with ees up to 80% and was perfectly reusable with the same performance for at least three catalytic cycles. [Pg.225]

ChemSelect AQB (Advanced Query Builder) A Pfizer in-house developed reusable Java component that allows users to query various molecular structure databases within Pfizer based on molecular structural information and/or other properties, retrieve, manage, and export retrieved hits. It has a functional role similar to MDL ISIS/BASE, but with many enhanced capabilities. PGVL Hub has embedded this reusable Java component within itself so that users can search for suitable reactants from various corporate reactants databases and inventory houses and return the hits seamlessly back into PGVL Hub design session. From user s point of view, the ChemSelect AQB component is just part of PGVL Hub. [Pg.319]

Functional dyes of many types are important photochemical sensitizers for chemical reactions involving oxidation, polymerization, (polymer) degradation. isomerization, and photodynamic therapy. Often, dye structures from several classes or materials can fulfill a similar technological need, particularly for laboratory or small-scale reactions where production efficiency may be of secondary importance. Commercial photochemical technology, however, is more selective and requires photochemical efficiency, ease of product separation, and lack of unwanted side reactions to an extent similar to that required by imaging processes. In addition, reusability of the spectral sensitizer is also preferred in commercial photochemical reactions. [Pg.535]
